A three-dimensional turbulent flow through entire a single-stage centrifugal pump is numerically simulated using FLUENT software. The analysis is completed in a multiple reference frame. The standard k-e turbulence models is applied. It is found obviously in the simulation that flow field is asymmetric, i.e., flow speed and pressure field are total different among all channels in the impeller, causing unbalance of hydrodynamic load on impeller blades. Axial- and radial-directional forces generated by such unbalance acted on the pump are calculated as well. The results indicate that radial-directional force due to asymmetry of flow field is significant and probably affects stability of pump working. The current computation is verified by comparing predicted and measured head. |
