As a result of globalization, multicultural workforce began to be common in many organizations. It is, therefore, essential for people in the management to have clear understanding on the challenges and difficulties that is uniquely in a multicultural workforce. Many economists have paid a lot of attention to the cultural factors in the economic history of last 500 years. David Landes points out that “If we learn anything from the history of economic development, it is that culture makes all the difference.” This essay first explores what are the main challenges that are caused by people from different countries working within the organization. Following that, the reasons behind these challenges would be analyzed. Then, it would provide some ways of addressing these challenges based on the literature.
