The entropy theory is introduced into dam safety evaluation in this paper. The generalized maximum entropy principle which can integrate various methods to determine weight is applied to obtain the weight of multi-index in dam safety evaluation. The method maximizes Shannon entropy of all random variables simultaneously to obtain relatively reliable and accurate results. A project example is given to prove this method feasible. Thus this paper provides a new idea to determine multi-index weight for similar projects.
Keywords:generalized maximum entropy principle, dam safety evaluation, multi-index, weight
