A new β-diketonate derivative, 3 - ( 4 , 4 , 4 - trifluorobutane - 1,3 - ditone ) - 9 - butyl carbazole, as ligand L1 was synthesized, and its corresponding Cu(I) complex CuL1(PPh3)2 were prepared by the reaction of Cu(NO3)2•3H2O with copper powder, the β-diketonate ligand and triphenylphosphine in the mixed solution of ethanol, THF and acetonitrile. The complex was characterized by IR, 1H-NMR, single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The spectral properties of the ligand and its complex have been studied. The study reveal that the complex exhibits significant optical and thermostability properties.
