The amount of inter-cell interference (ICI)from neighboring cells is one of the most important limiting factor to the performance of the downlink LTE-Advanced system. So coordinated multiple point transmission (CoMP) is proposed as an effective method to mitigate it. In this paper, we establish a system simulation platform and present several downlink CoMP joint processing (CoMP-JP) schemes and corresponding system level performance evaluation which show that the CoMP joint processing can bring significant gains to both the average sector throughput and the 5% of user throughput (cell-edge user throughput) in LTE-Advanced system
