We consider a Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) driven by a traveling lattice potential and derive an exact traveling-wave solution of the one-dimensional (1D) Gross-Pitaevskii equation (GPE), which satisfies a balance condition between the optical potential and interatomic interaction. The balance condition means the conservation of the total potential, and the exact solution contains some Bloch-like states and shows that the matter-wave has spatial profile in the form of sinusoid wave and propagates like a quasi-free particle with the lattice velocity.
