In this paper one chromium(III) complexes, [Cr(III)(SA)(TETA)]ClO4 (I), was synthesized, and the structure was determined by X-ray crystallography (en=ethylenediamine, TETA= triethylenetetramine). Its kinetic stabilities in different media and different conditions (pH, H2O2, EDTA or visible light) were studied by means of UV-visible spectroscopy. Then its efficacy to prevent obesity was tested using a diet-induced obesity rat model. The primary results indicate that the compound effectively suppress the increases in body mass and adipose mass, without any noticeable toxic effect. It also prevented increases in the plasma triglyceride, cholesterol, and low density lipoprotein (LDL) concentrations.
Keywords:Chromium; salicylic acid; Kinetic stability; Diet-induced obesity
