Recent work has revealed a law governing flux fluctuation and theaverage flux in complex dynamical systems. The universalityof this flux-fluctuation law can be established through the following steps: (1) the law could bederived in a more general setting, showing that itdepends on a single parameter characterizing the externaldriving, (2)extensive numerical computations are conductedusing distinct external driving, different network topologies, and multiple traffic routing strategies, and (3)data from an actual vehicle traffic system in a major city in China is also analyzed by us to lend more credence for the universality of the flux-fluctuationlaw. Besides its fundamental importance in complex systems, the flux-fluctuation law can be used to infer certain intrinsicproperty of the system for potential applications such as control ofcomplex systems for improved performance.
Keywords:theoretical physics; flux fluctuation; complex system; traffic dynamics; traffic flow
