Asymmetric light transmission in one-dimensionally separation-varied waveguide arrays is explored both theoretically and numerically in this paper. The theoretical results show that the value of the transmission contrast of the system is dependent only on the coupling coefficients of two uniform waveguide arrays. Corresponding numerical simulations demonstrate that the number of the layers in the separation varied waveguide part affects the transmission dynamics of the light beam but unrelated to the value of the transmission contrast, which is in good agreement with the theory.
Keywords:asymmetric transmission; separation-varied waveguide arrays; transmission contrast
