Focusing on chattering from uncertainties of the control system, a novel hybrid methodology for the adaptive sliding mode control of chaotic dynamical systems with uncertainties is proposed based on the excellent identification abilities of support vector machine. Support vector machine is used to model uncertainties of the control system so that the uncertainties of the control system becomes small, and only an lower switching gain control law without chattering is needed. The method tested for the Duffing and Chua’s circuit system shows excellent performance.
