Iron-catalyzed allylation of aromatics with allylic alcohols and acetate is presented. FeCl3•6H2O has proved to be an effective catalyst for this transformation. A variety of aromatic compounds are coupled with allylic reagents to furnish the corresponding 1, 3-disubstituted propenes in moderate to high yields under mild conditions. The catalytic cycle mechanism as a Friedel-Crafts process is illustrated in the assistance of ultraviolet spectrum analysis
Keywords:Friedel-Crafts allylation; allylic reagents; aromatics; FeCl3•6H2O
