In this paper, we introduce a median filtering detector, which is robust against JPEG compression.Recently, the median filter has became a popular anti-forensic tool, and draws much attention in forensics. The detection of median filtering from a JPEG compressed image is a diffcult problem, because typical filter characteristics are suppressed by JPEG quantization and block artifacts. We introduce a novel forensic trace - median filter residual, which is the difference between initial image and its median filtered output. The residual effectively eliminates the interference from image edge and texture, which is regarded as a major limitation of the existing forensic methods. Experimental results show that the proposed method is very robust to JPEG post-compression, and achieves much better performance than the existing state-of-the-art works. |
