Bose-Josephson system (BJS) provides an excellent platform for exploring and exploiting exotic quantum coherence, where interaction blockade is an important fundamental phenomenon in BJS.Using the analogy of the atomic BJS and the quadrupolar nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) crystal, we experimentally simulate the atomic BJS in a NMR quantum simulator composing of the quadrupolar spin-$3/2$ sodium nuclei of a NaNO$_3$ single crystal, and observe the interesting phenomenon of interaction blockade by adiabatically changing the asymmetry parameter in an atomic BJS.This is the first experimental implementation of adiabatic quantum simulation using quadrupolar nuclear system as far as we know. Our work exhibits important applications of quadrupolar NMR in the quantum information science.
