Power-law distributions in astrophysical and space plasmas have been frequently observed and studied. The power-law distributions represent stationary nonequilibrium states of some complex systems away from equilibrium with non-local and long-range interactions. The characteristics of this kind of plasmas with the power-law distributions generally depend on the power-law parameters and thus are always different from those known in the plasma physics using Boltzmann statistics with exponential distributions. The characteristics of the astrophysical and space plasmas with power-law distributions can be studied in the framework of nonextensive statistics.
