We propose and demonstrate in this paper all-optical simultaneous half-adder and half-subtractor in a single stage high nonlinear fiber (HNLF) operating with two data stream and a continuous probe light. Based on the nonlinear polarization rotation effects in HNLF, logic functions including the Sum/ Difference, Borrow and Carry are achieved at the same time. Operation with two 40 Gb/s NRZ-OOK data streams is experimental demonstrated and the logic functions are verified. This therefore leads to the advantage of reduced implementation complexity. Besides, the outputs of the half adder and half subtractor are linear polarized and located at single wavelength, which makes the presented logic gates suitable for cascading implementation.
