For Evolved-UTRA system based on Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM), with orthogonality within the cell, the main interference will be inter-cell interference. It is important to consider what techniques to be used in E-UTRA to handle inter-cell interference. The common theme of inter-cell interference coordination/avoidance is to apply restrictions to the resource management in a coordinated way between cells, whatever static, semi-static or dynamic coordinated way. The restrictions of transmit power or time/frequency resource will provide the possibility for improvement in signal-to-interference ratio. In this paper, the combination of beam-forming with inter-cell interference coordination/avoidance approach will be analyzed. And some simulation results will be given to further analyze the performance of inter-cell interference mitigation with beam-forming and the combinations. Beam-forming can be easily combined with other inter-cell interference mitigation approaches for more efficient inter-cell interference suppression.
