A new chiral bifunctional catalyst had been developed for the asymmetric cyanosilylation of aldehydes. The complex of 1d with Ti(OiPr)4 could efficiently promote the addition of trimethylsilylcyanide to aldehydes in high yields (up to 99%) with up to 76% ee. Based on the preliminary investigation, a possible catalytic mechanism via dual activation has been proposed to explain the origin of the activation and asymmetric inductivity.
Keywords:aldehyde; asymmetric cyanosilylation; bifunctional catalyst; titanium
