We propose a suboptimal joint demodulation decoding (JDD) algorithm for multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) channels. Compared with the optimal JDD, our algorithm can decrease the computational complexity significantly in the large number of transmit antennas, thus offering favorable performance/complexity characteristics. Computer simulation results are provided to compare the performance of the optimal JDD, suboptimal JDD, and the conventional separable soft-input soft-output demodulation decoding (SSDD).
