FDU-15 mesopolymer-supported N-heterocyclic carbene was developed by chemical functionalization approach. It was further used as a phosphine-free ligand for designing novel heterogeneous palladium catalyst that was highly active for Sonogashira reactions of aryl halides and terminal alkynes. The FDU-15-NHC-palladium (II) complex catalyst proved robust, showing no significant loss of activity after being recycled and reused for ten times.
