In this paper, we prove theglobal existence of classical solutions to the three dimensional(3D) compressible Navier-Stokes equations with a density-dependentviscosity coefficient (lambda=lambda( ho)) provided the initialdata is of small energy. This in particular implies that thesolutions may have large oscillations and contain vacuum states. Asa result of the uniform estimates, the large-time behavior of thesolution is also studied.
