To improve the performance of the polarization controller (PC) for the future optical communication and signal processing. A new type of fiber PC (FPC) based on a rotatable fiber squeezer has been presented, and investigated by the method of the generalized principal state of polarization (PSP). Experimental results show that the PSP caused by fiber squeezing is in the equator plane, which rotates around $S_3$ axis on the Poincaré sphere when turning the fiber squeezer. Based on this FPC, a novel method of polarization control is further proposed to realize the polarization conversion between arbitray polarization states. This type of FPC, which has high compact structure and can be directly embedded into any fiber devices, will be an ideal PC for high-speed optical communication and all-optical signal processing.
