In this paper,we report the preparation of lanthanide(III)-based metallogelators by cationic surfactant (DODA, DODA = dimethyl dioctadecyl ammonium) and lanthanide complexes [Ln(dpa)3]3- (Ln = Eu, Tb; dpa = dipicolinate) and their hierarchical self-assembly into highly luminescent flower-like and giant vesicular architectures in organic solvents, respectively. The present concept suggests that the combination of lanthanide(III) complexes with stepwise molecular self-assembly will open an alternative methodology to develop lanthanide(III)-based sensors and optoelectronic materials.
Keywords:Lanthanide(III) complexes; Luminescence; Vesicles; Metallogels; Self-assembly
