Objective: The study investigated the association between angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 polymorphisms and essential hypertension. Methods: The references were retrieved through Medline. The analyses were performed by the software STATA 9.0. ACE2 is on the X chromosome, pooled analysis was performed separately in female and male subjects. The systematic review included genotyped data on 1903/1519 cases/controls in female and 1666/1495 cases/controls in male for G8790A, as well as 799/640 and 729/703 for A1075G, respectively. Results: For the G8790A polymorphism and its relationship to female hypertension, the allele contrast A versus G showed nonsignificant heterogeneity among studies (p=0.55; I2=0%), and the pooled ORs were marginally significant, at 1.11 (95%CI: 1.01 to 1.23). For the A1075G polymorphism in male, the summary odds ratio of G allele for essential hypertension was 1.70(95% CI=1.36 to 2.11). Regarding the association of G8790A polymorphism with the male hypertension, and the A1075G polymorphism with the female hypertension, both the summary ORs showed nonsignificant (1.20 [95%CI: 0.96 to 1.51] and 1.07 [95% CI: 0.91 to 1.26]. Conclusion: the present study showed the association of A1075G in male and G8790A marginal in female with essential hypertension. .(10 Points, Times New Roman)
