Abstract:CO-OFDM is sensitive to phase noise (PN), which will cause common phase error (CPE) and intercarrier interference (ICI). Pilots are used to compensate for the PN. However, the phase of the comb-type pilot subcarriers (PSs) also suffers the ICI from the adjacent data-bearing subcarriers in real systems. In terms of this issue, a low-complexity comb-type pilot scheme is proposed in CO-OFDM system for testing the impact of the ICI by adding blank subcarriers (also guard subcarriers or GSs) at both sides of PSs. By increasing the number of GSs, the ICI on PSs can be reduced and a better performance of the phase compensation is achieved. The proposed pilot scheme with GSs is employed in a typical 20Gbit/s QPSK CO-OFDM system, and the simulation results show that after 50km standard single-mode fiber (SSMF) transmission in conventional conditions, our scheme can reduce the error vector magnitude (EVM) by about 3%.

Abstract:Automatic caption location and recognition in videos is now recognized as a key component in the development of a advanced video annotation and retrieval systems. In this paper,a automatic caption location and recognition system is proposed, which is mainly composed of a caption location and character recognition subsystem. In the caption location module,a novel binarization technique named LMM,which makes use of the image contrast that is defined by the local image maximum and minimum is applied.Abundant experiment prove that this algorithm has good performance in suppressing the complex background in image. Multi-frames fusion is used to get a more accurately binarization image and projection method is adopted to segment the character later. Finally, extracting the characters's edge statistical information to form a feature vector, calculating the similarity between vectors to recognize the character. Do a post-processing to further improve the recognition rate. We achieved relatively satisfactory experiment results, our recognition rate is nearly 0.9 in various video .

Abstract:In this paper, a new way is proposed to transmit and retrieve an information-bearing signal which is achieved by using the conventional synchronization of chaos and digital encryption approaches. A memristor-based Chua's circuit is employed to generate a digital key. By considering appropriate circuit configuration, the simulation results are presented.

Abstract:By analyzing the Volterra model in frequency domain, i.e. the generalized frequency response functions (GFRF), characteristics of nonlinear system in frequency domain can be realized, and it can be applied to fault diagnosis of nonlinear system. The Volterra model identification and fault diagnosis method are two important aspects of the nonlinear spectral analysis, we have obtained some new significant progresses about these two aspects in recent year. In this paper, the theory and application based on nonlinear spectral analysis are perfectly introduced, and the new progresses are also presented. For identification of Volterra model, by reconstructing the Volterra model as a pseudo-linear combination construction, and using a constrained optimization analysis idea, a fully decoupled Volterra adaptive identification algorithm is firstly presented. The simulation results show that the fully decoupled identification algorithm can effectively improve the convergence speed and precision of adaptive identification, and its convergence process is more stable. For improving robust performance of Volterra model identification, a robust total least mean square adaptive identification algorithm is presented by defining the Volterra total mean squared error and modifying estimated gradient according to the steepest descent principle. The theoretic analysis and simulation results have indicated its excellent performance. In addition, for reducing computation requirements in fault diagnosis based on nonlinear spectral analysis, a new diagnosis method based on multiple preset GFRF models is also presented. In this method, the multiple preset GFRF models are used to describe the corresponding working mode of the system, and the fault can be directly diagnosed according to the matching extend of each preset model to the current working mode of the system. The experiment test has proved this new diagnosis method is effective.
