Abstract:Multi-rotors UAV is a popular platform for low-cost SAR due to its low requirements for flight. However, because multi-rotors UAV often has a low velocity and complicated flight trajectory, accurate and efficient signal processing for image formation is a still challenge problem. In this paper, some topics on the signal processing for multi-rotors UAV SAR are discussed. Processing results of real data collected by a mini SAR equipped on a multi-rotors UAV are presented.

Abstract:Compared with the Ground-base Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar (ISAR) system, there are many advantages in the stratosphere. However, one problem of the Stratospheric ISAR system is the platform drifting, which brings the phase interference to echo signal. Especially, if the target has complex motion such as yawing, pitching, rolling, or more generally maneuvering, the quality of ISAR image deteriorates violently. Considering this problem, firstly parameter estimation(PE) method is applied in the stratosphere ISAR system to compensate for the phase error along the down-range due to the platform drifting. And then, we apply a joint time-frequency analysis(JTF) tool to compensate the rotational motion errors. The effectiveness and validity of the algorithm are proved by simulation results.

Abstract:ISAR imaging is an important imaging method of radar imaging, which is widely studied. Firstly, the paper describes the principle of ISAR imaging with Range-Doppler method using chirp signal. Based on this, the paper put forward the sub-aperture imaging algorithm based on moment invariants. Moment invariants have been widely applied to image pattern recognition in a variety of applications due to its invariant features on image translation, scaling and rotation. The method can obviously improve the imaging quality, shorten the imaging time. Finally, the computer simulations with aircraft model are carried out. The simulation results show the feasibility and validity of the method.

Abstract:In order to obtain high-resolution images, autofocus algorithms are widely used in SAR imaging. In the paper, a hybrid SAR autofocus algorithm is proposed. The proposed method estimates the quadratic phase error by FRFT method and the residual phase error by PGA. Results from simulated and real data prove that performance of the proposed algorithm is superior to the individual PGA.

Abstract:In this paper, we developed an extended deterministic Direct Data Domain (D3) approach and applied it to a universal 2-D antenna array framework in the estimation of the signal strength, in the presence of interference signals and noise, based on a set of multiple snapshots data. Several application examples of our approach are presented, whose results demonstrate that the approach is well applicable to the problem.

Abstract:In this paper, an efficient spectral estimator is presented as a solution of spectral estimation with several snapshots available. Due to considering the design of the narrowband filter and the formation of the filtering vector simultaneously, the proposed method can give the better spectral estimates. Simulation results exhibit the performance of the new spectral estimator.

Abstract:In this paper, two nonparametric amplitude spectral estimators, which belong to the adaptive filtering-based approach, are proposed. In case of only several snapshots available, the filtering data, which is formed by weighting the snapshots with the traditional Fourier weight vector, contains more larger residual term besides the signal term at the frequency of interest. Those residual term dramatically reduce the accuracy of the spectral estimate at the frequency. By weighting the snapshots with Capon weight vector, the weighted data is slightly influenced by the other frequency components, and the corresponding filters perform better estimation accuracy and higher spectral resolution. Numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the performance of the new approaches.

Abstract:The noise-like chaotic signal can be generated with very simple nonlinear circuit, has very broad bandwidth and good correlation properties. These characteristics have drawn considerable attentions in radar community. Much research has been devoted its applicability to radar. In the past, the chaotic signal serves only for a transmit signal and the traditional correlation-type receiver is used for processing. In this sense, the chaotic signal is acting as a radar waveform in the noise signal radar and hence its performance advantage is not distinct. Here we present a scheme for processing chaotic radar signal. We find a simple relation between the target parameters (range and velocity) and the system parameters of chaos-generating system. With this relation, the measurement of the target parameters is transformed into estimation of the system parameters from the radar return signals. Equipped with high-resolution parameter estimation techniques, the proposed principles provide a way to develop high-resolution noise signal radar.
