Abstract:A compact multiband planar monopole antenna for WWAN/LTE applications is proposed. The proposed antenna consists of a folded monopole with a resistance load and a shorted parasitic strip. The antenna is printed on the FR4 dielectric substrate and the dimension of the antenna is only 43mm×10mm×0.8mm. The antenna prototype has been fabricated and measured to verify the performance of antenna. The measured results agree with the simulated results well. In the case of VSWR smaller than 3:1, the proposed antenna is capable of covering GSM850, GSM900, DCS, PCS, UMTS 2100, LTE2300 and LTE2500 bands. The proposed antenna is suitable for WWAN/LTE mobile devices.

Abstract:A monopole antenna with parasitic structures enabling multiband operation for WWAN/LTE mobile terminals is proposed. The antenna is comprised of one folded monopole strip, two parasitic shorted strips and a matching network. The overall antenna dimension is only 38.3 mm* 11.4 mm*0.8 mm, which is appropriate for mobile phone applications. The measured impedance bandwidths (S11<-6 dB) are 340MHz at the low band (0.82-1.16GHz, 34.3% FBW) and 1.39 GHz at the high band (1.61-3GHz, 60.3% FBW). Within the frequency band of interest, good radiation performances are obtained. The proposed antenna is applicative for WWAN/LTE mobile terminals including mobile phones, data cards and wearable devices.

Abstract:An hepta-band antenna for mobile phones with the size of 80mm×5mm×4mm is proposed and studied. The proposed antenna is composed of a coupled line, a monopole stub and a grounded stub. By using the multi-mode method, the lower band(824-960MHz) and the higher band (1710-2690MHz) are covered. The working mechanism is analysed by dividing the proposed antenna into three parts as reference antenna. The simulated -6dB impedance bandwidths are 150MHz (830-980MHz) and 0.98GHz (1700MHz-2680MHz) at the lower band and higher band, respectively. The proposed antenna is capable of covering the GSM850, GSM900, GSM1800, GSM1900, UMTS, LTE2300,and LTE2500 bands.

Abstract:A compact reconfigurable proximity coupled antenna with frequency and polarization switching capabilities is presented in this paper. The frequency and polarization switching capabilities are realized by using six PIN diodes across an eye-shaped slot on the ground plane. The proposed antenna has six different operation status including linear polarization (LP), right-hand circular polarization (RHCP) and left-hand circular polarization (LHCP) wave. Due to the frequency and polarization switching capabilities, the overall capacity of the antenna in the wireless transmissions could be potentially enlarged.

Abstract:To tackle the current issue of spectrum resource scarcity, Device-to-Device (D2D) communication is considered as an important technology for sharing spectrum with cellular users, which enables high-speed and convenient services. In this paper, we consider the spectrum and power allocation problem for D2D communication in underlaying cellular networks. In particularly, we focus on a D2D network, where spectrum resource is shared among all D2D users. Unlike existing works that mainly focus on D2D users sharing spectrum with cellular users, we analyze not only the spectrum resources allocation but also the optimization of the transmission power for each D2D transceiver pair to maximize D2D system capacity maximize. We first formulate the network model and signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) by some stochastic geometry knowledges. In addition, we formulate the spectrum resource allocation and power selection as a mixed integer non-linear programming (MINLP) problem to maximize the system capacity. Inspired by existing intelligent algorithms, we propose a heuristic chaos genetic algorithm associated with four color theorem to solve this problem. In order to prove the feasibility and efficiency of this algorithm, we compare this problem with brute-force search algorithm in simulation results. It shows that the proposed chaos genetic algorithm combine with graph coloring method can approach system capacity optimal but algorithm complexity is greatly reduced. We also verify the system parameter influence of the system capacity in this network.(10 Points, Times New Roman)

Abstract:This paper demonstrates that the circular antenna array with its nth element dipole phased by an accurate setting can generate the vortex radio beams possessing orbital angular momentum (OAM). Theoretical formulations of its radiation far-field are deduced in the spherical coordinate system and are used to analyze radiation pattern and phase distribution of vortex radio beams. The model of a simulated configuration for circular antenna array is proposed and conducted to validate the theoretical results using 4nec2. Simulation results match well with the theoretical analysis. Both calculated results and simulation results show vortex radio beams possess amplitude null on radiation pattern.

Abstract:To improve network throughput and energy consumption, device-to-device (D2D) communications have gained much attention. Due to low antenna heights and motion of both terminal ends, the fading characteristics of D2D channel is different from that of traditional cellular networks. An autoregressive-moving average (ARMA) model is proposed in this letter to better characterize the correlated shadow fading in D2D scenarios based on field measurements in urban areas. The ARMA model is actually an extension of the damped exponential correlation model, and could capture the key components in shadowing process.

Abstract:A novel, broadband flexible metamaterial absorber is designed. The absorber is consisted of loaded high-impedance surfaces (HIS) on a flexible polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrate and the back-metal layer replaced with a polarization-insensitive frequency-selective surface separated by a dielectric layer. The proposed absorber can obtain the bandwidth with the reflectivity below ?10dB in the frequency range of 7-16GHz with a transparent window at 2.9 GHz. Losses in the high-impedance surface are introduced by printing the periodic pattern through resistive inks and hence avoiding the typical soldering of lumped resistors.

Abstract:A novel, broadband flexible metamaterial absorber is designed. The absorber is consisted of loaded high-impedance Surface. In this paper, a monolayer high-impedance surface broadband absorber with honeycomb lattices based on the flexible metamaterial are designed. The simulated results are shown that the absorption bandwidth is from 13 to 19.1 GHz, also it can be observed that the simulated absorption exceeds 95% almost from13.1 to 19GHz and the absorber is polarization insensitive for the incident wave under the normal incidence. Comparing with the absorber with traditional square lattices, the proposed absorber has advantages in the properties of absorbing, when it is bended . Even the bended absorber with honeycomb lattices has better absorption than the plane absorber. The proposed absorber can be worked as a polarization insensitive, conformal and broadband metamaterial absorber in radomes, cloaking and other microwave applications.
