Show/Hide Abstract | Cite this paper︱Full-text: PDF (0 B)
Abstract:A semi-analytical solution based on discrete Fast Fourier Transformation (FFT) is developed for analyzing the interface traction stress (ITS) of approaching dislocation loops within perfect bonding multi-layers. Interface elastic fields of perfect bonding multilayers are influenced by the elastic modulus mismatch and crystallographic misorientation, and then the case of perfect bonding two-layer system is elaborated in details.

Abstract:To solve the sparseness problem of least squares support vector machine (LSSVM) in learning process, a training algorithm of LSSVM based on active learning is investigated. In the first stage of the algorithm, in order to solve the problem of a large number of similar training data samples, we select support samples by K-means clustering method. The second stage, we obtain a model using LSSVM and conduct function estimation of the all samples, calculating the error of the estimation values and the original samples, sorting support samples and selecting the best sample. Then the selected sample is added into training set to obtain new model. And the processes are repeated until the predetermined performance requirements are achieved, thus the sparse LSSVM model is obtained. The simulation on sinc function indicates that the proposed method performs more effectively than Suykens standard sparse method for removing the redundant support vector with better sparseness and robustness. The experiments on motorcycle dataset of the UCI indicate that the proposed algorithm can solve the problem of heteroscedasticity in some degree.

Abstract:With the number of social communities grows, social community recommendation has gradually become a critical technique for users to efficiently find their favorite communities. Currently a variety of recommendation techniques have been developed, such as content-based method, collaborative filtering, etc. There methods either easily overfit the data due to the limitation of observations or suffer the heavy computational cost. Besides, they don‘t consider the relationships between users and communities, and cannot handle incoming users. In this paper, we propose a soft-constraint based online LDA (SO-LDA) method. We use the number of user‘s posts within each community as soft-constraint to estimate the latent topics across the communities by an online LDA algorithm, in which an incremental method is adopted to facilitate model updating when incomes a new user. Experiment on the well-known MySpace community data shows that the proposed method takes much less time and outperforms the state-of-the-art community recommendation methods.

Abstract:Some basic assumptions of fractal elasticity are investigated. The fractal Cauchy stress are introduced and its expansion obtains the vector forms of fractal surface force and body force.The tensor forms of the governing equations in fractal medium are obtained by the fractional differential geometry in fractal orthogonal coordinates and oth the basic equations and the boundary conditions are discussed by dimensional homogeniety. Using some basic assumptions the simplest uniaxial model in fractal body is investigated in detail and its governing equations are obtained.

5. On a Study Concerning Saint-Venant’s Principle

Abstract:This paper reviewed the series of four works of “proof of Saint-Venant’s Principle” published by Wu etc .The four articles proved neither the discrete Saint-Venant type decay of section-forces of the finite elements in the chain model of discretization of the cylinder nor the discrete Saint-Venant-type decay of section-displacements, posed in their papers. Furthermore, the discrete Saint-Venant type decay of section-forces is not provable. Nevertheless, the proposition of the discrete mixed Saint-Venant type decay of the cylinder was discussed in Wu’s articles by taking the “super” forms of the two single decays mentioned above as a priori assumptions, and so the discussion is of uncertainty, or meaningless, for proof of Saint-Venant’s Principle.

6. Variational Theory: Variable-independence and Consistency
Jian-zhong Zhao | |||
Mechanics 25 January 2008
Show/Hide Abstract | Cite this paper︱Full-text: PDF (0 B)
Abstract:Variational theory of elasticity is surveyed in the context of mathematical logic in the present paper. The problem of variable-independence of variational principles raised by Chien is discussed. We find that Chien’s “High-order Lagrange Multiplier Theory”, which deals with the problem of variable-independence and constraint of variational principles, is inconsistent; Luo’s system, which is involved in the problem of variable-independence, is involved in contradictions; the conventional understanding of independence of variables of variational principles connotes contradiction. In the context of mathematical logic, variational theory must be established as a mathematical system of logic, excluding vagueness and misunderstanding. By consideration of logic, variable-independence is understood as identity of variables and then formalization of variational theory is a solution to the problem of variable-independence. Two consistent systems for elasticity, the Axiomatic System of Variation and the Formal System of Variation, are suggested in this paper.

7. A SIMPLIFIED RESIDUAL ISI CANCELLATION METHOD FOR OFDM SYSTEM

Abstract:A decision-aided method is developed for the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems to eliminate the residual intersymbol interference (ISI) introduced by the channel impulse response that exceeds the length of the guard interval. The method uses the decisions to estimate the residual ISI by FFT and IFFT with a very low computational complexity, and remove the residual ISI directly. Simulations for the application of the residual ISI cancellation algorithm to the Wireless LAN system based on IEEE Std 802.11a are performed. The simulation results show that the residual ISI cancellation algorithm provides good performance improvements on static fading ISI channels.

8. On the Capacity over Spatially Correlated Rayleigh-Fading Channels in the presence of Spatially Correlated Interference

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the capacity of multiple-input/multiple-output (MIMO) systems, which is a general Rayleigh/Rayleigh model including spatially correlated channels as well as spatially correlated interferers. Perfect channel information is assumed to be available to the receiver, but the transmitter has no channel information. Based on the theory of matrix variate distribution, we derive exact closed-form expressions of the moment generating function (MGF) of mutual information of MIMO channels with interference. Then we obtain further exact closed-form expressions of the MIMO ergodic capacity with these MGF formulas of mutual information.

Abstract:Based on the theory of information fusion estimation, information fusion optimal tracking control algorithms of nonlinear discrete system with input delay are proposed. All information with respect to control strategy, including ideal control strategy, expected object trajectory, and system dynamical equation are regarded as measuring information of control strategy. Therefore, the question of optimal control can be transferred into one of information fusion estimation, and the algorithms of optimal tracking control of time-delayed nonlinear discrete-system are given in detail. In the end, the mathematical simulation results show the validity of the algorithms presented in this paper.
