Abstract:Recently, there is a tremendous attention on the high-dimensional quantum information processing using the orbital angular momentum(OAM) of photons. It provides an efficient method to increase the capacity of quantum channel. However, OAM is very vulnerable to atmospheric turbulence, resulting in phase distortion and therefore, leading to information leakage during quantum communications. On the other hand, quantum secure direct communications (QSDC) defines an efficient way of information exchange through quantum channels directly. Here in this work, by combining the applications of OAM states of photons as the information carrier with the QSDC, this paper analyzed the performance of the high-dimensional quantum secure direct communication protocol based on encoding the information on the single photon OAM state under the condition of free space channel. Numerically, this paper discussed the performance of OAM states QSDC under atmospheric turbulence, and mainly calculates the influence of cross-talk caused by phase fluctuation on the system. This paper has drawn the conclusion that in weak turbulence, when the beam waist w\' and the Fried parameter r become comparable, the information capacity will decrease sharply.

Abstract:We propose two kinds of pair-structure plasmonic waveguides. Their gap mode properties are studied. It is found that very small mode areas can be obtained. Moreover, we calculate the optical forces that acting on the nanoparticle which is placed in the gap region of pair-structure waveguides. It is found that owing to the strong coupling between the pair structures, a strong local force(as much as more than 4000fN/W) can be generated, which is much stronger than those in most literatures. And the strength and range of the force can be adjusted by the parameters. With these features the pair-structure plasmonic waveguides may be applied as strong and tunable optical tweezers.

Abstract:An organic-inorganic heterostructure light emitting diode consisting of the hole transporting layer poly (9,9-dioctyl?uorenyl-2,7-diyl) (PFO) and n-type ZnO nanorod arrays is reported. ZnO nanorod arrays were synthesized by hydrothermal method, and characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and photoluminescence spectrum. The current-voltage characteristics of the ZnO/PFO heterojunction showed diode behavior, and the turn-on voltage was 5.0 V. The light emitting phenomenon was observed in the heterostructure light emitting diode at the bias voltage of 7.0V.

Abstract:ZnO nanowires Metal-Semiconductor-Metal (MSM) photodetector with platinum (Pt) contact electrodes was fabricated and its optoelectronic properties were examined. The ZnO nanowires used in the experiment were synthesized by chemical vapor deposition method. The electrical performance and photoelectric response performance were studied, and the results showed that the Pt/ZnO nanowires based MSM ultraviolet photodetector exhibited a high sensitivity to 365 nm ultraviolet light, the photocurrent to dark current ratio can reach 9.44×103 with a voltage bias of 5 V, and the response and recovery time were also fast. Schottky barrier mechanism was employed to explain the results.

Abstract:An analytical model for self-mixing interference based on erbium doped fiber laser is presented. The reflected or backscattered beam was introduced in the form of seed light. In this paper, we present a new procedure for solving numerically transcendental equation problem with standard root-finding technique, and obtained the emitted power of the laser in the self-mixing system. The self-mixing signal of velocity measurement under different parameters was also studied in detail.

Abstract:In this paper, three methods are presented in this paper to simulate beam splitter which has been widely used in many aspects. The beam splitter can be achieved by coupling of parallel nanowires, surface plasmon polaritons in silver surface or the defects in photonic crystal. The paper sums up with comparisons between these methods.

Abstract:This paper studies the relationship of biological tissue character and the fast Fourier transform (FFT) spectrum of Polarization-sensitive optical coherence tomography (PS-OCT) signal, revealing the influence of tissue birefringence, texture and structure. After describing the single-detector PS-OCT imaging theory in detail, this paper simulated FFT spectrum of PS-OCT A-scan signal with a three-layer tissue model as sample, whose parameters varied during simulation, and analyzed the influence of different model parameter on FFT spectrum. The simulation results showed that, with different tissue character, the FFT spectrum figure will have different shape and center frequency of side peaks. This research validated the ability of single-detector PS-OCT detecting multiple biological tissue character, widening the usage of PS-OCT.

Abstract:An analytical theory integrating the Rayleigh-Debye-Gans theory with fractal aggregate theory (RDG-FA) for a better understanding of the optical properties of fractal-like tissue at a high-resolution scale is present. The calculated optical properties of tissue are consistent with the reported values. And the optical properties are related to the fractal dimension and the correlation length. In addition, the exponents of the inverse power law spectral dependence of scattering coefficient and reduced scattering coefficient are piecewise linearly depending on the fractal dimension, indicating that the exponents can serve as a tools for distinguishing the different tissue

Abstract:In this article, we propose a filtering device of Fabry-Perot-like microcavity with metallic gratings sandwiched between micro-spaced optically-thin metal layers. By varying the period of the gratings, the resonance wavelength of transmission can be tuned in the optical spectrum regime. As analysis of the microcavity is beyond the classical theory of a Fabry-Perot cavity and the structured media with fine gratings in the microcavity behave like an effective medium, the microcavity is modeled as laterally coupled sub-microcavities and the effective index of the cavity media is calculated. The proposed microcavity is promising for arrayed filters in integrated micro-optical systems.
