Abstract:Low-Density Parity-Check (LDPC) code is a good linear block codes, which performs at a rate extremely close to shannon capacity. Quasi-cyclic (QC) LDPC form an important subclass of LDPC codes. In this paper, we presents an improved structure of QC-LDPC codes. It is shown that the perfoemance of the improved code is even better than QC-LDPC codes in moderate and long frame length. And because of its structure, the encoding implemention is more suitable than QC-LDPC codes.

Abstract:In wireless sensor networks (WSNs), sensor location plays a critical role in many applications. Having a GPS receiver on every sensor node is costly. In the past, several approaches, including range-based and range-free, have been proposed to calculate positions for randomly deployed sensor nodes. Most of them use some special nodes, called anchor nodes, which are assumed to know their own locations. Other sensors compute their locations based on the information provided by these anchor nodes. This paper describes MACL, a mobile anchorCentroid localization method, which uses a single mobile anchor node to move in the sensing field and broadcast its current position periodically. The proposed method is radio-frequency based, so no extra hardware or data communication is needed between the sensor nodes. We use simulations and tests from an indoor deployment using the Cricket location system to investigate the performance of MACL, and find that the localization method is principle simple, less computing and communication overhead, low costly, and flexible accuracy.

Abstract:In this paper, based on Circularly Symmetrical Gabor Transform (CSGT) and Principal Component Analysis (PCA), we propose a face hallucination approach. In this approach, all of the face images (both input face image and original training database) are transformed through CSGT at first and then local extremes criteria is utilized to extract the intrinsic features of the faces. Based on these features, we calculate Euclidean distances between the input face image and every image in the original training database, and then Euclidean distances are used as criteria to choose the reasonable training database. Once the training database is chosen, we use PCA to hallucinate the input face image as the linear combination of the chosen training images. Experimental results show that our approach can choose training database automatically according to the input face image and get high quality super-resolution image.

Abstract:A new quad-quaternion model is herein established for a six-component electro-magnetic vector-sensor array, under which a multidimensional-algebra based direc-tion-of-arrival (DOA) estimation algorithm, termed as quad-quaternion MUSIC (QQ-MUSIC), is proposed. This method provides DOA estimation (decoupled from polarization) by exploiting the orthogonality of the newly defined ‘quad-quaternion’ signal and noise subspaces. Due to the stronger constraints that quad-quaternion or-thogonality imposes on quad-quaternion vectors, QQ-MUSIC is shown to offer great robustness to model errors, and thus is very competent in practice. Simulation results have validated the proposed method.

Abstract:In this paper, we tailor the bilateral filter towards the task of suppressing the ringing artifact commonly occurred on JPEG2000 images under low bitrates. The proposed adaptive bilateral filter varies from its original form as the pixel moves from a monotone area towards an edge one. Also the local spreads of the domain and range filters are tuned with the extent of texture activity. The edge detection and distance transform are used to indicate the local edge and texture activity indexes. Experimental results show that the adaptive bilateral filter can effectively smooth out the annoying ringing artifact and ameliorate the visual quality.

Abstract:We propose a unified scheme to alleviate the blocking, ringing and blurring artifacts in block DCT compressed images. The image is decomposed into 2 levels using the over-complete wavelet transform, and the wavelet coefficients are filtered with consideration of local image properties. For the smooth region, the wavelet coefficients are averaged over the range of blocking artifacts’ extension in the over-complete wavelet transform domain on respective levels. For the texture region, only the coefficients on the first level are averaged to prevent over-smooth of the image. And for the edge region, the coefficients are first smoothed and then high-pass filtered to enhance the edges so as to restrain the ringing and blurring artifacts. The inverse transform of the filtered coefficients is performed towards the quality enhanced image. And a quantization constraint is imposed on the final result for better PSNR and visual performance.

Abstract:Pressure activity data which are an important index of gastric motility can be obtained from the wireless radiotelemetry capsule. But the capsule only records single-dimensional pressure time series which may contain a few interdependent components simultaneously. Automated embedding phase space reconstruction algorithm is employed to reconstruct multi-dimensional phase space. Then the dominant and separated component of the gastric contractions is identified using FastICA algorithm. Finally the use of Hilbert Huang transform method for analyzing the characters of gastric motility is investigated. The results show that the proposed method is an effective approach for the analysis of the gastric pressure series.

Abstract:Maximum Entropy model is widely used in natural language processing in many fields, this paper uses Maximum Entropy model to build a part-of-speech tagging system based on the special needs. Because of the huge difference of grammar and structure between Chinese and English, this paper focuses on feature selection’s influence on the premise that its feature template is selected. And we use a feature selection algorithm-iteration, modification, and cutting (IMC) applied to Maximum Entropy model. The experiment shows that we can gain a better result through appropriate feature selection methods.

Abstract:This paper presents an invisible photoelectric card which can replace IC card in some proper occasions. Traditional photoelectric card has visible holes so that it is easily to be forged. The invisible photoelectric card adopts 3-layer structure which makes the information hidden to naked eyes and improves safety prominently. Combined with Database and MCU(MCS-51), invisible photoelectric card can be used to implement a distributed system having the functions of identification and charging which can be widely used in hotels, library, dinning room etc. Taking the example of hotel management, firstly the structure of the card and the sensors are described; secondly the network of the distributed system is illustrated; This paper also provides the design of both the MCU which controls the sensors and the Database system which processes the user data.
