	Abstract:The position fusion of ground targets is required for forming a correct enemy situation map when a certain target is observed by a Mobile Ground Scouting System (MGSS) several times or by several MGSSs. Position error of target is the basis of fusion. The measuring model of fix ground target has been founded under the geodetic rectangular coordinates by analyzing the process of MGSS determining position of target. The theoretic distributing rule of coordinate errors is deduced according to the transfer course of errors and approximated to the normal distribution based on analyzing components of errors. The simulation has proved that the approximation of distribution rule is practicable. Fusion rule of fixed ground target has been established through selecting shape and calculating size of fusion gate.

	Abstract:This paper presents an approach towards JPEG2000 recommended lifting-based Le Call 5/3 wavelet transform. The deign performs boundary extending while inputting datum, and only uses few shifters and adders, the architecture is efficient and height performance. The deign simulated on FPGA.

	Abstract:A new criterion based on Bayesian MAP densities is proposed for simultaneous detection of signals impinging on a sensor array and estimation of their direction-of-arrival (DOA). The proposed detection criterion is strongly consistent and outperforms the MDL and AIC criteria, particularly for a small number of sensors and/or snapshots, and/or low SNR, and/or small space of angle, without increased computational complexity. Simulation results demonstrate the performance of the proposed solution.

	Abstract:The performance of Bayesian Maximum a posterior DOA estimator (BMAP) is excellent [1, 2], and it also can be used to estimate the DOAs of coherent sources [3]. However, the computation burden of this estimator is very large. In order to resolve the problem of computation burden, a new BMAP using Gibbs sampling and particle filtering is proposed and the formulation of this new estimator is derived. The simulation results show that the new estimator not only keeps the excellent performance of the original BMAP, but also provides reduced computational complexity of this estimator from O(LK) to O(K×J×Ns×N) especially for K>3 due to K Ns<N<J<L.

	Abstract:DOA estimation is an important research area in array signal processing. Bayesian maximum a posterior probability density DOA estimator (BM DOA estimator) has been shown to perform perfectly. However, the BM estimator requires a multidimensional grid search and the computational burden increases exponentially with the dimension. So it is difficult to be used in realtime applications. In order to reduce the computation, Monte Carlo methods are combined with BM DOA estimator. A novel Bayesian maximum a posterior DOA estimator based on importance sampling (ISBM DOA estimator) is proposed in this paper. ISBM DOA estimator not only keeps the good performance of the original BM DOA estimator, but also reduces the computation obviously because it needs not multidimensional search and reduces the computational complexity of the original method from to . Simulation results show that ISBM DOA estimator keeps the superior performance of BM DOA estimator, but also reduces the computation evidently and performs better than MUSIC and MiniNorm, especially in the case of low SNRs.

	6. A New Hausdorff Distance Based Approach For Face Localization

	Abstract:An improved approach of face localization based on the Hausdorff Distance(HD) measure is proposed in this work. First, we modify the similarity measure in the template-based matching. The common form of HD only computes the average of the mismatch of each point in the point set A to the point set B. We improved it by considering the average and the standard deviation together. The new measure is more robust against the variance of poses, expressions and identities. Then we also apply the HD measure to compute the symmetry of the test image, which is an important characteristic of human faces. This symmetry measure is combined with the template-based matching during face localization process. The experimental results demonstrate that both improvements can enhance the performance of face localization.

	7. Adaptive Sampling-based Particle Filter

	Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the relation between the filtering accuracy and the sampling number drawn by Particle Filtering (PF) based on the confidence interval theory, and a adaptive sampling numbers PF (APF) is proposed. The conventional PF (CPF) algorithm keeps constant sampling numbers during the entirely filtering time, and its filtering precision depends severely on the sampling number, thus CPF bears a larger computational load. Compared with CPF, the proposed APF achieves almost same filtering precision with adaptive variable sampling number, the higher filtering accuracy can be guaranteed by a pre-determined confidence coefficient. Great deals of Monte-Carlo simulations are performed and show that the average sampling number and the computational load of the proposed algorithms are reduced greatly.

	Abstract:In this paper, we present a nonlinear transform to efficiently reduce the high peak-to-average power ratio of OFDM. The nonlinear transform changes time domain signal amplitude‘s statistic distribution from Rayleigh to approximate uniform, therefore not only reduce time domain signal’s dynamic range, but also reduce the high peak to average power ratio to a low level. The proposed scheme performed well when in the circumstances of Rayleigh fading channel on the symbol error rate. The proposed scheme’s performance is confirmed by simulations

	9. Computing EigenFace From Edge Images for Face Recognition Based on Hausdorff Distance

	Abstract:The different face regions have different degrees of importance for face recognition. In previous Hausdorff distance measures for face recognition, such as Spatially Eigen-Weighted Hausdorff distance (SEWHD), the weighting function is computed from grayscale images. However, Hausdorff distance is a measure for two binary point sets, not for grayscale point sets. A point which is important in grayscale domain does not necessarily mean it is important in edge domain. In this paper, a new weighting function of Hausdorff distance measure is proposed for face recognition. The weighting function is based on the eigenface of face edge images, not the eigenface of grayscale images in previous method. When comparing the edge images of the face model and that of a test face edge image in face recognition, the weighted Hausdorff distance can reflect the discriminative properties of face edge images effectively. Experimental results show the new method achieves higher recognition rate comparing with previous Hausdorff distance measures

	10. Expression-independent face recognition based on Higher-Order Singular Value Decomposition

	Abstract:In this paper, a new method for extracting expression-independent face features based on HOSVD (Higher-Order Singular Value Decomposition) is proposed and used for face recognition. In the new method, it is assumed that a facial expression could be represented by the facial expressions in the training set. In addition, the expression with higher similarity to the expression of test person has higher probability to represent the expression of test person. Expression-similarity weighted face feature, which is the optimal estimation based on Bayesian estimation theory and the assumption, is used to estimate the face feature of the test person. As a result, the estimated face feature can reduce the influence of expression caused by insufficient training data and becomes less expression-dependent, and can be more robust to new expressions. The proposed method has been applied to Japanese Female Facial Expression (JAFFE) database. Expression-independent experimental results show the superiority of proposed method over the existing methods in terms of recognition rate and accumulative recognition rate.
