Abstract:In this paper, electromagnetic scattering by an infinite conducting cylinder coated with left-handed material (LHM) for an incident wave of a line source is derived rigorously by using a boundary value mode-matching approach. The numerical calculations demonstrate the improved directivity of the electromagnetic scattering by such a cylindrical structure, due to the negative refraction phenomenon of the LHM. The far-field radiation pattern and its frequency dependence exhibit the possible application of the LHM in directive antenna technique.

Abstract:Deposition, diffusion and aggregation (DDA) on a two-dimensional small-world network has been investigated by computer simulations. This model is characterized by two parameters: the clustering exponent $\alpha$ and long-range connection rate $\phi$. The results show that as $\alpha$ and $\phi$ vary there exists a continuous crossover in the fractal dimension $D_f$ from 1.65 to 2, which corresponds to the crossover from the DDA pattern to dense one. The change of the aggregation pattern results from the long-range connection in the network, which reduces the effect of screening during the aggregation. With primitive analysis, we obtain the expressions of the fractal dimension $D_f$ and the crossover point $\alpha_c$. The maximum value of $\alpha_c$ is 4. These results may be useful to describe the vapor deposition, molecular-beam epitaxy, and similar experiments on defective substrates.

Abstract:The average value of g factor (i.e., ) of Cr4+ ions in forsterite (Mg2SiO4) is calculated with the cubic symmetry approximation from the complete high-order perturbation formula of g factor for 3d2 ion in cubic tetrahedral cluster. In the formula, the contribution to g factor from the charge-transfer mechanism (which is neglected in the crystal-field theory) is considered in addition to that from the widely used crystal-field mechanism. From the calculations, the reasonable observed value of is suggested (note: the experimental values of by various authors are scattered) and the important contribution of charge-transfer mechanism to g factor can be found.

Abstract:The complete third-order perturbation formulas of g factors g// and g^ for 3d2 ions in tetragonal MX4 clusters have been established from a cluster approach. In these formulas, in addition to the contributions to g factors from the crystal-field mechanism in the crystal-field theory, the contributions from the charge-transfer mechanism are included. From these formulas, the g factors g// and g^ for Cr4+ ion in Bi4Ge3O12 crystal are calculated. The results are in agreement with the observed values. The calculated Dgi (i=// or ^) due to the charge-transfer mechanism is opposite in sign and about 20% in magnitude, compared with that due to the crystal-field mechanism. So, for the 3dn ions having high valence state in crystals, the reasonable explanations of g factors should take both the crystal-field and charge-transfer mechanisms into account.

Abstract:To solve the problem of synchronization of two hyperchaotic systems with one single variable when the parameters of two hyperchaotic systems mismatch. Based on the methods of coupling and parameter identification method to find the right parameters of system, it proposed the relevant parameter identification and parameter compensation methods to solve the problem that the parameters mismatch. Theory analysis and numerical simulation result show that it can use the method of improved parameter identification and parameter compensation to realize complete synchronization of two hyperchaotic systems even if their parameters mismatch.

Abstract:A modified Olami-Feder-Christense(OFC)model on a square lattice with small-world architecture has been investigated. We find that our model displays power-law behavior. But more important, we find there are different avalanche dynamical behaviors for different connectivity topologies in the small world networks.

Abstract:The theoretical calculation of the first experimental results about third harmonic generation in gas-filled waveguide by the femto-second laser pulses is proposed. It is found that the walk-off and phase modulation exert an important effect on the pressure-signal curve, the ratio of signal intensities in different modes and the efficiency of the third harmonic generation. It is also found that the calculation result of the third harmonic generation efficiency approaches the corresponding experimental result.

Abstract:Ultrathin La2O3 gate dielectric films were prepared on Si substrate using La(tmhd)3 source by low-pressure metalorganic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD). The growth processing, interfacial structure and electrical properties have been investigated by various techniques. The ultrathin films deposited at 600℃ show amorphous structure with smaller roughness of ~0.2nm and larger bandgap of Eg=6.18eV. This is attributed to the interfacial layer existence of compositionally graded La-Si-O silicate. Due to the chemical instability of La2O3 films in ambient, it can absorb vapor and carbon dioxide, which leads to the deterioration of electrical properties. By introducing Al2O3 capping layer, the reliable value of equivalent oxide thickness around 1.8 nm of La2O3/Si has been achieved.

10. Effect of different baryons impurities on the nuclear core

Abstract:We demonstrate the different effect of different baryons impurities on the static properties of nuclei within the framework of the relativistic mean-field model. Systematic calculations show that $\Lambda_c^+$ and $\Lambda_b$ has the gluelike role the same as $\Lambda$ hyperon for lighter hypernuclei. $\Xi^-$ and $\Xi_c^0$ hyperon has the gluelike role only for the protons distribution in nuclei, and for the neutrons distribution $\Xi^-$ and $\Xi^0_c$ hyperon plays a repulsive role. On the other hand, $\Xi^0$ and $\Xi^+_c$ hyperon attracts surrounding neutrons and reveals a repulsive force to the protons. We find the different effect of different baryons impurities on the nuclear core is due to their different isospin, and $\rho$ mesons play an important role.
