Show/Hide Abstract | Cite this paper︱Full-text: PDF (0 B)
Abstract:In this note we give an answer to an open question posed recently by Mecheri and Braha [Oper. Matrices 6 (2012), 725--734]. More precisely, we show that if T is n-perinormal, then the nonzero points of its approximate point spectrum and joint approximate point spectrum are identical; but this is not the case at 0.

Abstract: In this paper, we introduce a new implicit iterative process for two countable families of mappings in the framework of a real Banach space and prove some strong convergence theorems under suitable conditions. The results obtained in this paper extend and improve thecorresponding results announced by many others.

Show/Hide Abstract | Cite this paper︱Full-text: PDF (0 B)
Abstract:This note introduces a convexity property of convexfunctions defined on a nonempty convex set in Banach spaces and establishes several equivalent characterizations of weakcompactly subsets of Banach spaces by the property. More precisely, let X be a Banach space and let K∈X be a convex bounded subset. Then (i) If X is separable, then K is weakly compact iff thereexists a continuous 2R convex function on K.(ii) If X is nonseparable then K is weakly compact iffthere exists a continuous w2R convex function on K.

Abstract:In this paper, the authors construct some counterexamples to show thatthe generalized Carleson measure space and the Triebel-Lizorkin-type spaceare not equivalent for certain parameters. Moreover, the authors show that for some special parameters, the generalized Carleson measure space, the Triebel-Lizorkin-type space and the Besov-type space coincide with certain Triebel-Lizorkin space.

Abstract:The classical Weierstrass theorem states that every continuous function f defined ona compact set K⊂Rn can be uniformly approximated by polynomials. In this paper we show firstthat it is again valid if K is a compact Housdorff metric space. We prove also that for any weak(w*, resp.) continuous positively homogenous function f defined on a (dual, resp.) Banach space X (X*, resp.) then for all ε>0 and for every weakly compact set K⊂X( w* compact set K⊂X*), there exist ϕi ∈X* ( X, resp.) for i=1,2,..., m,and ψj ∈ X* (X, resp.) for j=1,2,...,n such that|f(x)−[(ϕ1∨ϕ2∨···∨ϕm)(x)−(ψ1∨ψ2∨···∨ψn)(x)]|<ϵ uniformly for x∈K. Let cc(X) (wcc(X), reps.) be the norm semigroup consisting of all nonempty (weakly, resp.) compact convex sets of the space X. As its application, we give two representation theorems of the duals of cc(X) and wcc(X).

7. On finite decomposition complexity of Thompson's group $F$

Mathematics 23 February 2011
Show/Hide Abstract | Cite this paper︱Full-text: PDF (0 B)
Abstract:Finite decomposition complexity m(FDC) is a large scale property of a metricspace. It generalizes finite asymptoticdimension and applies to a wide class of groups. To make the property quantitative, a countable ordinal "the complexity" can be defined for a metric spacewith FDC. This paper proves that the subgroup Z≀Z of Thompson's group F belongs to Dω exactly, where ω is the smallest infinite ordinal number. And it shows that F equipped with theword-metric with respect to the infinite generating set{x0,x1,...xn,...} does not have finitedecomposition complexity.
