Abstract:Based on the experimental results of a stay cable model incorporated with a small size MR damper, a model consisting of the modified Bouc-Wen model in series with a standard model of a linear solid is proposed to predict the MR damper response attached to the stay cable. Using the experimental results of the stay cable with the MR damper and performance testing of the MR damper, dynamic properties of MR damper with constant current input coupled with stay cable is firstly studied. To carry out the semi-active vibration control of the stay cable model by using MR damper, dynamic analysis is carried out to predict the behavior of the MR damper with a continuously varied applied voltage to expect the achieved semi-active MR damper force. Dynamic analysis results is validated well by the numerical simulations of the measured experimental data. . | |||
