Abstract:Correlation filter (CF) based trackers have become quite popular in video tracking because of their impressive performance and high frame rates. A large amount of recent research focuses on the improvement of training model of correlation filter to get a tracker with better discriminative power. However, this only helps the tracker to discriminate the target object from background within a small neighborhood, which is not suitable for fast motion scenes. In this paper, we propose a new detection model to dig out the potential of the correlation filter to deal with the challenge of fast motion. The model performs detection operations on multiple small search areas within a large one. Thus, our tracker can accurately localize the target object in a larger search area. In addition, we also added space constraints to boost the tracking performance of the model. The extensive experimental results demonstrate that the proposed tracker outperforms several state-of-the-art trackers on the challenging benchmark dataset with 51 sequences.

Abstract:Feature selection plays a significant role in pattern recognition, machine learning and other related fields. It can be used in data preprocessing step to achieve efficient dimensionality reduction by selecting a subset of discriminant and informative features. In recent years, regularization based feature selection has attracted great interest and many algorithms have been proposed. The common idea of these methods is to choose a proper norm such as $ell_1$-norm, $ell_1/ell_infty$-norm and $ell_{2,1}$-norm for the selection vector or selection matrix to achieve sparseness, and the non-zero entries or rows correspond to the selected features. This paper aims to review the recently proposed representative works, provides insight into the differences and connections between these methods, and discusses the challenges and possible directions of future work.

Abstract:Epitaxial SmNiO3-δ thin films were fabricated under various oxygen partial pressures (PO2) on (001)-oriented LaAlO3 substrates by pulsed laser deposition method. Continuous control of the metal-insulator transition temperature (TMI) from 350 K to 85 K has been achieved by varying PO2 from 26 Pa to 0.5 Pa. The reduction of TMI can be attributed to the straightening out of the out-of-plane Ni-O-Ni bond angle due to the elongation of unit cell volume with decrease of PO2. When PO2 > 3 Pa, the resistivity anomalies around 200 K are observed in the insulating phase of strained SmNiO3-δ films, suggesting the onset of antiferromagnetic ordering of the Ni sublattices. Based on the results of the transport measurements, an electronic phase diagram of the oxygen deficient SmNiO3-δ films has been established in this work.

Abstract:According to the limited processing ability of satellite, a network traffic prediction model based on wavelet transformation and nonlinear optimization SVM is proposed. First wavelet transform was carried out on the network traffic to get scale coefficients and the wavelet coefficients. Then Using nonlinear quantum particle swarm optimization algorithm to optimize the SVM. Through the SVM regression model, the wavelet component regression analysis is done. Finally do wavelet reconstruction and obtain prediction results. The experimental results show that the improved prediction algorithm has better generalization ability and is suitable for short-term prediction. Its prediction accuracy is much better than traditional forecasting methods.

Abstract:This paper studies an adaptive control design for a class of strict-feedback nonlinear systems with asymmetric time-varying full state constraints. A time-varying asymmetric Barrier Lyapunov Function (ABLF) is employed to ensure time-varying constraints satisfaction. By allowing the barriers to vary with the desired trajectory in time, the initial condition requirements are relaxed. Thus the ABLF can afford greater flexibility in control design. The high order coupling terms caused by backstepping method are canceled through variable substitution. Asymptotic tracking is achieved without violation of any constraints, and all signals in the closed-loop system are ultimately bounded. The performance of the ABLF-based control is illustrated through a numerical example.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce the characteristics of image to realize the constellation modulation in two dimensional orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems, called image OFDM systems. First, the uniform definition of phase and frequency modulation is given in the 3D coordinate system, denoted by the reduced dual quaternion. Then, we give three corollaries to form the basic relationship between different dimensional constellation mappings and the pixels of image. Finally, we use the properties of image to divide the transmitted OFDM symbols into different subgraphs, which results in the local narrow-band transmission in the image OFDM systems. Simulation results verify its effectiveness in the time-varying wireless channel.

Abstract:In this paper, the linear control laws are proposed for the platoonrun in a 2-dimensional space. Each vehicle not only uses theinformation of its predecessor, but also its follower's. We considera platoon that doesn't need a leader and prove the platoon is stableunder the proposed state feedback control law. We set a target pointfor each vehicle, which guarantees the vehicle run along the middleposition of the road with the desired velocity. After somemodifications, the control law is applied to the platoon with aleader. One proves the control law is also effective. Somesimulations are provided to illustrate that the proposed controllaws are feasible and reasonable. From the simulations one can findthe control laws are effective and the objectives of the controllaws can be achieved.

Abstract:Background:Social governance is important to the today′s development of China, especially for social stability, social security and economic development purposes. New media, as an uprising method for people's communication, knowledge spreading and information accession, becomes a new channel for the government passing down the wills and propaganda for the social governance purpose. Hence, it is worthy to learn the functions of new media at the current social governance. This study is to reveal the impact/role of news media for social governance in China through case study. Methods: In the chosen case of "3.01 terrorist attack in Kunming train station", 26 of representative Government Weibo (GW) accounts and their related microblog contents are selected into an analysis of governmental influence. Results: The result shows that the GW has higher potential influence compare to traditional media Weibo; especially the Local GW, which reveals significantly higher growth rate of influence than other hierarchical GW. The spreading path was kept in a normal track and without hype; the explosive points are mainly sparkled through the intersection between the GW and other governmental posts. Male pay more attention to sudden terror attacks events than female do. The posts of refuting rumors and event reports, as observed, are easier in attracting public attention. Conclusions: Given these stand points, the GW has some advantages of infusing positive information to the public, which can be influential for a propaganda. Hence, the future study can focus on methods of improving the efficiency of propagation for different groups.

9. Handover Performance Improvement in Small Cell Networks using Neighboring Cell List Optimization

Abstract:In dense small cell networks, the coverage of a typical cell is small and handover is expected to happen frequently when user moves. Thus a two stage neighboring cell list (NCL) selection (TSNS) algorithm is proposed to improve handover performance. In the first stage, TSNS updates cell specific preferences of neighboring cells based on the load, signal quality and resource utilization of the target cells. In the second stage, user specific preference is calculated considering the received signal quality, surviving time and moving direction of user. Cell specific and cell user specific preferences are merged to construct the resultant NCL. Compared with existing methods which adopt the same NCL for all users in a cell, the novelty of TSNS is that different users can have different NCLs. Simulation results prove that TSNS can yield short NCL list while ensuring good handover performance.

Abstract:Complex network is a useful tool to study and analyze the real world networks. However, the growing number of links and nodes brings a challenge for us to analyze the complex network. How to improve the efficiency of extracting backbone has gradually been in a hot research. In this paper, we firstly review some methods of extracting backbone of complex network, and then we put forward an extracting backbone model which is based on information diffusion. Information diffusion has become a focus recently, and the mass information from internet provides data support to study the information diffusion among network. The first step of our model is to identify the critical nodes which will be the initial ones in the information diffusion model, so the information will spread from those nodes to the remainders. During the simulation, those links which play a leading role during the diffusion will be regarded as the important ones to construct the backbone of complex network.
