Abstract:Efficient transmission has always been a major issue for wireless sensor networks (WSN) due to the fact that the nodes are usually battery-powered. Wireless communication accounts for a strikingly large proportion of the total power consumption of a node. In this paper, we reduce the power consumption in the physical layer by designing a low-power transceiver. IEEE 802.15.4 is a popular communication protocol with many good features that can be used for power-saving. We design a simple energy efficient transceiver for IEEE 802.15.4. It utilizes the constant-envelope feature of the offset quadrature phase shift keying (O-QPSK) signal with half-sine shaping defined in the protocol to simplify the structure of the transceiver. Compared with conventional transceivers, the proposed transceiver uses a hard-limiter (inverter) to replace the digital-to-analog converter (DAC) and the analog-to-digital converter (ADC), which results in a much simpler structure and lower power consumption. Furthermore, the correlation operation could be efficiently implemented just by a reversible counter. The performance of the proposed transceiver is effectively demonstrated by both computer simulations and hardware tests.

Abstract:In this paper, the problem of multiple Doppler frequency offsets estimation for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system over doubly-selective channels is investigated. The main application environment is for very high-mobility OFDM systems. The key point is to design a particular preamble structure. Then by remodeling the received blocks through downsampling, we compact parameter space and obtain a low complexity subspace-based estimator with the performance of high-resolution. The effectiveness of the proposed scheme is verified by simulations.

Abstract:The convergence of MANET (Mobile Ad hoc Network) and NEMO (Network Mobility) is a burgeoning topic in the network convergence field. The two kinds of network can extend each other's capability to construct a stronger network system. In this paper, the purpose is to carry out a MANEMO (MANET and NEMO) network structure particularly suitable for the rescue working environment. This project analyzed the protocols and RFCs like MIPv6 (Mobile Ipv6) , OLSR (Optimized Link State Routing) , NEMO BS (NEMO Basic Support) , MANEMO and many relevant projects of MANEMO while considering the rescue working environment, designed the network structure and optimized the routing protocols, finally simulated the result through the OPNET software. The result proved that, in the rescue environment, the improved MANEMO structure and protocols can accelerate the handover speed when a mobile node is roaming among different NEMOs, and it can also reduce the transmission delay and the packet loss of the visited mobile nodes.

Abstract:Network Mobility Basic Support Protocol (NEMO BS) is a protocol proposed for the mobility management of mobile networks. It provides a group of mobile devices with seamless Internet connectivity, and it can be used in the vehicle communication and disaster rescue. However, NEMO BS cannot deal with the problem of pinball routing in the nested mobile network which would heavily increase the communication cost. This article puts forward a novel route optimization solution to solve pinball routing. The mobile routers under the same access router compose an ad hoc network. In the ad hoc network all messages are routed by Optimized Link State Routing (OLSR) protocol. The Mobile Routers will be divided into Grounded Mobile Routers (G-MR) and Non Grounded Mobile Routers according to their connectivity to the Internet at a moment. Ground Mobile Routers should do the works as a gateway for all of the Non Grounded Mobile Routers in the ad hoc network, and the Non Grounded Mobile Routers will keep a G-MR information list to choose the optimized G-MR after evaluating its parameters. Then the messages from the mobile nodes will be delivered through the tunnel established by G-MR to the Internet. By doing this, pinball routing can be avoided. The simulation result of the OPNET software shows that this solution can reduce the number of encapsulation level, decrease the transmission latency effectively, and improve the network communication efficiency.

Abstract:This paper studies two-way communications over a three-node Gaussian and Fading relay channel. Six-step opportunistic protocol and superimposed XOR-based decode-and-forward (DF) relay scheme are present. The achievable rate regions of the proposed opportunistic strategy have been analyzed by optimal time control and considering unequal packet length. For comparison, two-step protocol with optimal or equal time control and bitwise XOR-based DF and superposition-based DF are considered, respectively. This paper also studies the performance of weighted maximum sum-rate for the proposed 6-step opportunistic strategies at different relay locations in Rayleigh channel from three point of view: 1) maximum sum-rate without any constraint. 2) rate pairs under maximum weighted sum-rate with fairness. 3) service delay versus packet arrival rate with queue.

Abstract:Providing physical-layer security for future wireless networks isof both theoretical and practical importance. In this paper, we consider OFDMAnetworks which can fully guarantee the confidential message transmissionof each user.We present a malicious and active eavesdropper, which is registeredin the OFDMA network and reports a false channel state information (CSI)to the base station (BS) in order to obtain chance of eavesdrop. The detriment to the system security caused by the false CSI attack is evaluated. To combat the attack of the malicious user, two defence schemes at the BSare proposed and their efficiency is analyzed, which are CSI compensation andartificial noise.%Numerical studies are conducted to show the performance of the two defenceschemes, which are shown to effectively reduce the eavesdrop probability andsecrecy loss.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the optimal power allocation strategy in cognitive radio systems for a cognitive radio (CR) link under spectrum sharing with an existing primary radio (PR) link. The PR is equipped with multi antennas and the CR is in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) based multiple input multiple output (MIMO) cognitive radio systems. It is assumed that in channel learning scheme, CR transmitter first listens to PR transmission and then estimates the spaces that are orthogonal to the channels from PR. Unlike prior study on channel learning in MIMO based cognitive radio systems, this paper is first to bring the OFDM technology to MIMO based cognitive radio systems and consider the imperfect channel learning. Owning to the channel estimation errors, the interference from CR transmitter to PR terminals cannot be canceled completely. Moreover, an effective algorithm is proposed, and we get the optimal power allocation to maximize CR throughput in precondition of assuring PR QoS. Simulation results show the relations among the CR transmit power constraint, the interference power constraint at PR and CR throughput.

Abstract:In order to meet the needing of LTE uplink in high speed data rate and high system capacity, spatial multiplex technology is introduced in the uplink transmission. However, the interference between users in MIMO system which used spatial multiplex technology will inevitably affect the system performance to some extent. To ensure the receiving can demodulate each data stream accurately, pre-coding techniques can be used for processing multiple data streams. In this paper ,pre-coding based on non-codebook is researched, including the basic process, the design of pilot frequency and the major resistance to achieve non-codebook: antenna calibration. Three solutions are proposed for this problem, and analysis aimed to measure the performance advantages and disadvantages of these solutions are thoroughly carried out.

Abstract:Several parallel scheduling schemes based on Round Robin (RR) are introduced in the distributed antenna system (DAS) to exploit multi-user multiplexing and the multi-user diversity. Firstly, Parallel Round Robin (PRR) scheduling scheme is presented in spatial domain to achieve multi-user multiplexing gain, which can improve the system throughput and inherit the excellent fairness performance of RR. Then a parallel grouping Round Robin (PGRR) is proposed to exploit multi-user diversity based on PRR with partial channel state information (CSI) available at the base station (BS). Due to multi-user diversity and multi-user multiplexing, a great improvement of average throughput is achieved in PGRR. Finally, an enhanced PGRR (EPGRR) is employed to improve fairness performance of PGRR further. Simulations verify analysis conclusions and show that tradeoffs between the throughput and fairness can be achieved in both PGRR and EPGRR.

Abstract:Given a real-time multicast scenario in wireless networks, what is the best Erasure Error Correction (EEC) scheme for guaranteeing a certain reliability requirement under strict delay constraints? To answer this question, in this paper, we focus on a general architecture of EEC under strict delay constraints, and then contribute a mathematical framework for analyzing and optimizing its performance. The general architecture has integrated all of the following EEC techniques: ARQ, FEC and all kinds of hybrid ARQ techniques. Through optimizing the parameters of the architecture using the proposed mathematical framework, the throughput can be maximized with guaranteeing the target reliability requirement under strict delay constraints, which finally results in an Adaptive EEC (AEEC) scheme by choosing the optimum EEC scheme automatically among the entire schemes integrated in the architecture. The analysis results show that the throughput performance of the AEEC scheme outperforms significantly any EEC technique alone. Finally, the simulation results indicate that the mathematical framework is quite suitable for designing the optimum parameters of the architecture. We believe that our contributions in this paper provide a powerful tool for designing an efficient real-time reliable multicast protocol in wireless networks.
