Abstract:In this paper, we consider the existence and non-existence of non-trivial solution to a Brezis-Nirenberg type problem with singular weights. First, we obtain a compact imbedding theorem which is an extension of the classical Rellich-Kondrachov compact imbedding theorem, and consider the corresponding eigenvalue problem. Secondly, we deduce a Pohozaev type identity and obtained a non-existence result. Thirdly, based on a generalized concentration compactness principle, we will give some abstract conditions when the functional satisfies the (PS)$_c$ condition. Finally, based on the explicit form of the extremal function, we will obtain some existence results to the problem.

Abstract:he purpose of this paper is to experimentally investigate the engine pollutant emissions and combustion characteristics of a diesel engine fueled with ethanol-diesel blended fuel. The experiments were performed using various proportions of ethanol-diesel blended fuels in a single-cylinder DI diesel engine. The engine performance parameters and emissions were measured, and compared to those using the baseline diesel fuel. In order to gain insight into the combustion characteristics of ethanol-diesel blends, the engine combustion processes for blended fuels and diesel fuel were observed using an Engine Video System (AVL 513). The results show that the brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC) increased at overall engine operating conditions, but it is worth noting that the brake thermal efficiency (BTE) increased by up to 1~2.3% with 10% and 15% ethanol-diesel blended fuels. It is found that the engine fueled with ethanol-diesel blended fuels have higher emissions of THC, and lower

Abstract:his paper investigated the improvement of spray characteristics and exhaust emissions of diesel engines by reformulating the fuel compounds and physico-chemical parameters. Three oxygenated fuels including ethanol, dimethyl carbonate (DMC), and dimethoxy methane (DMM) were applied to mix with diesel. Basic properties directly related to engine parameters and those characterizing fuel quality were investigated. The laser phase doppler anemometry (PDA) analyzer system was applied to obtain the spray characteristics, including the Sauter mean diameter (SMD) and axial mean velocity distribution, of DMM-diesel hybrid fuels. Furthermore, engine tests of oxygenated hybrid fuels were performed on a 4-cylinder, water-cooled high speed DI diesel engine. The results show that the evaporation properties and the fuel transportation parameters could be optimized using hybrid fuel, and the engine behavior seemed to be improved in the presence of oxygenated additives with a reduction of poll

Abstract:omogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) combustion exhibits phenomena including self-ignition, two-stage combustion (cool flame and hot flame), and negative temperature coefficient (NTC) behavior. At the same time, the heat release and pressure rise rate at the first-stage play an important role on the total ignition delay and burn rate for overall combustion. N-heptane and iso-octane are primary reference fuels (PRF) for octane rating in internal combustion engines. The oxidation mechanism of fuels has a dominant effect on ignition delay, burn rate, and engine knock-resistant. Based on this background, this paper investigates the oxidation characteristics at low temperature range from 450K to 650K for n-heptane and iso-octane at the pressure of 15bar, and equivalence ratio of 0.52 using accelerating rate calorimeter (ARC). The experimental results show that the initial exothermic reaction can be detected at 180 0C for pure primary reference fuels; the pressure increases

Abstract:his article investigates the influence of cetane number improver on heat release rate and emissions of a high-speed diesel engine fueled with ethanol-diesel blend fuel. Different percentage of cetane number enhancer (0%、0.2%、0.4%)were added to blends, and the engine tests were performed on a high speed diesel engine. The results show that: the engine power decreased slightly, the thermal efficiency improved remarkably, and the NOx and smoke emissions decreased simultaneously when diesel engine fueled with blends; the engine power can be recovered, NOx and smoke emissions further reduced when CN improver were added to blends. From the combus-tion analysis, it can be found that the ignition delay prolonged, the total combustion duration shortened, and the maximum heat release rate increased for ethanol-diesel blend fuel when compared to diesel fuel; the combustion characteristics of ethanol-diesel blend fuel at large load may be recovered to diesel fuel by CN improver, but a large diffe

Abstract:bstract: In recent years, a considerable amount of research effort has gone into the investigation of free and/or forced vibration characteristics of a spinning shaft with attached discs, but there has been less research on the transverse vibration of a high-speed diesel engine crankshaft system under firing conditions. This paper presents a new exact general approach based on a distributed continuous model to study the free and forced bending vibrations of an engine crankshaft. Distributed continuous models of the crankshafts for a four-cylinder (with a capacity of 3.8 l ) and an in-line six-cylinder (with a capacity of 5.8 l ) direct-injection diesel engine were constructed. The general frequency equation and mode shapes for the bending vibration of the total crankshaft under operating conditions were obtained using the coefficients transfer matrix method. Modelling and analysis procedures were applied to the crankshaft systems of two diesel engines, and the inherent freque

Abstract:Let $\{X,X_n,n\geq1\}$ be a sequence of independent and identically distributed positive random variables with common distribution belonging in the domain of attraction of a stable law with an exponent $\alpha\in (1,2)$ and set $S_n=\sum^n_{j=1}X_j$ for $n\geq1 $. This paper present an integral test to determine the limiting behavior of the logarithm of properly normalized products of the partial sums, $\log\prod^n_{j=1}S_j/[n!(EX)^n]$, and deduce a version of Chover's law of the iterated logarithm for them.

Abstract:We demonstrate the different effect of different baryons impurities on the static properties of nuclei within the framework of the relativistic mean-field model. Systematic calculations show that $\Lambda_c^+$ and $\Lambda_b$ has the gluelike role the same as $\Lambda$ hyperon for lighter hypernuclei. $\Xi^-$ and $\Xi_c^0$ hyperon has the gluelike role only for the protons distribution in nuclei, and for the neutrons distribution $\Xi^-$ and $\Xi^0_c$ hyperon plays a repulsive role. On the other hand, $\Xi^0$ and $\Xi^+_c$ hyperon attracts surrounding neutrons and reveals a repulsive force to the protons. We find the different effect of different baryons impurities on the nuclear core is due to their different isospin, and $\rho$ mesons play an important role.

9. A Trust Region Interior-point Algorithm for Solving Linearly Constrained Nonlinear Optimization

Abstract:In this paper, a trust region algorithm based on interior point techniques is proposed for solving nonlinear optimization problems with linear equality constraints and nonnegative variables. Unlike those existing trust region interior--point methods, this proposed method does not require that a general quadratic subproblem with a trust region bound be solved at each iteration. Instead, a system of linear equations is solved to get a search direction, and then a linesearch of Armijo type is performed in this direction to obtain a new iteration point. From a computational point of view, this approach may in general reduce the computational complexity, and thus improve the computational efficiency. Under suitable conditions, any accumulation of the sequence generated by the method satisfies the first--order optimality condition, which is known as a KKT point of original problem involved.

Abstract:This paper presents data of length, weight, and longevity gathered from literature and FishBase belonging to 195 fish species and 69 families. Compared with intraspecific weight-length relationship (W~L3.0), interspecific weight scales as 2.5-power of length (W~L2.5). Additionally, interspecific longevity also shows a weak power-relationship with body length (S~L0.525).
