Abstract:The stability analysis and systematic design technique of Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy control systems are discussed. The standard fuzzy partition (SFP) of the input variables of fuzzy control systems is defined. Based on the properties of fuzzy control systems with SFP inputs, the stability of both the input-free T-S fuzzy systems and the closed-loop T-S fuzzy control systems are studied in detail with the extended Lyapunov theory, and two theorems to check the stability of T-S fuzzy control systems are proposed. These methods which only require to find a common positive-definite matrix in each maximal overlapped-rules group (MORG), can reduce the conservatism and difficulty of the former stability analysis approaches. Using the method of parallel distributed compensation (PDC), the systematic design approach of T-S fuzzy control systems is presented. The simulation results of three examples show that these methods are effective.

Abstract:An output feedback control of discrete-time diamond uncertainty MIMO systems is presented by the result of finite extreme testing. By means of the finite LQ problems simultaneously obtaining optimization, we obtain a method of determining the output feedback gain matrix K,which ensure the diamond closed-loop systems to be stable. A numerical example also is given to demonstrate the efficient of the method

Abstract:A single period assemble-to-order system consisting of a manufacturer and three suppliers was considered. The manufacturer produces two different types of correlated end products, each product needs a different mix of a common set of component parts, which belong to two types, one type is specific components and the other is common components. How to manage inventories of components in such a system is of managerial interest. We formulate the inventory management problem for the system as a two-stage stochastic nonlinear integer program. We prove the decomposition of total expected profit function and give two algorithms. We solve the first stage of the problem to determine the optimal stock levels of the components by algorithm 2 and solve the second stage problem by algorithm 1, where the component allocation decisions are made. At last, we give a numerical example.

Abstract:It is difficult to determine the robust stability of time-delay systems with interval parameters because the number of eigenvalues of the systems is infinite. To solve the problem of robust stability test of the systems, we develop a 2-D algebraic test for stability of time-delay systems with an edge test set based on Kharitonov vertex polynomials. Constructing a 2-D s-z hybrid polynomial family with interval parameters based on the characteristic polynomial of given interval time-delay system, the robust stability of the edges of interval 2-D polynomial can ensure the given interval delay system to be stable. Some complex Hurwitz-Schur test algorithms for the robust stability of 2-D s-z hybrid interval polynomial are provided. Simulation for an example verifies the results of the paper to be correct.

Abstract:New stability conditions for complex switched systems are presented. We propose the concepts of attractive region and semi-attractive region, and to be a tool for analyzing the stability of switched systems with unstable subsystems. Based on attractive region the sufficient conditions with less conservative for stability of switched systems have been established, there is no limitation for all members of the system set to be stable. Since our results have considered and utilized the decreasing span of oscillating solutions of the switched systems, they are more practical than the other presented ones of stability of switched systems, and need not resort to multiple Lyapunov functions.

9. Robust Hurwitz-Schur Stability Conditions of Polytopes of 2-D Polynomials

Abstract:The characteristic polynomials of polytopes of recursive 2-D continuous-discrete systems are polytopes of bivariate (2-D) polynomials. Since the root domain of bivariate polynomials is in 2-D complex space, to be different from that of 1-D polynomials, the analysis for robust stability of polytopes of 2-D polynomials is much more complicated than 1-D case. To solve the problem of stability test of polytopes of recursive continuous-discrete systems, we establish necessary and sufficient conditions of robust Hurwitz-Schur stability of polytopes of bivariate polynomials. We show that the robust Hurwitz-Schur stability of a polytope of 2-D polynomials can be determined by testing the stability of the edges of the polytope. An example has been given to demonstrate the applicability of our new approach.

Abstract:A spiking-neuron based cognitive model with classical conditioning behaviors is proposed. With a reflex arc structure and a reinforcement learning method based on the Hebb rule, the cognitive model possesses the property of ‘stimulate-response- reinforcement’ and can simulate the learning process of classical conditioning. An experiment on the inverted pendulum validated that this model can learn the balance control strategy by classical conditioning.
