Abstract:An iterative decoding algorithm for serial concatenated codes when the outer code is BCH code and the inner codes is convolutional code is proposed. To implement the soft decision decoding of BCH code, a near-optimal decoding algorithm with modified metrics and Soft Output Viterbi Algorithm based on trellis diagram is proposed and modified BCJR algorithm is applied for iterative decoding of convolutional code. The simulation results of are given on the AWGN channel with BPSK modulation, showing that compared with hard-decision decoding, the proposed algorithm can achieve a coding gain of at least 1.5 dB for a BER (Bit Error Rate) of 10^-4.

Abstract:An efficient method is presented to design the evanescent wave amplification exactly by cascading two layers of periodic series-shunt capacitors and and inductors, which simulate a bilayer of magnetic and electric plasmas. Based on the presented method, equivalent lumped parameters of circuit structures are retrieved, from which the evanescent-wave amplification (EWA) is obtained at a designed frequency. Full-wave simulations show that the relative offset of the EWA frequency is less than 0.1%. The structure has been fabricated and measured, and the measurement results have good agreements with the simulation results. The proposed method can be used to design other periodic circuit structures, and the exact design of EWA can be used in the fabrication of novel components.

Abstract:System development in advanced SOPC allows considerable flexibility, both during development and in field use. In this paper, we explores the design of a Bluetooth—Ethernet adapter based on SOPC. Two levels of parallelisms are analyzed for an efficient implementation with the computing part on Nios II embedded soft processor and the audio stream preprocessing part on customized hardware. It begins with review of the development procedure of SOPC, and then the design mechanism of IIS controller IP core and software based on Nios II CPU. In our studies, we developed the embedded system in an Altera Cyclone FPGA, together with Lightweight TCP/IP stack and µC/OS-II system. Results of simulation and test show that the design is successful.

Abstract:Resonator micro optic gyro (R-MOG) is a high accuracy inertial rotation sensor based on the Sagnac effect. Optical waveguide ring resonator (OWRR) is the core-sensing element in R-MOG. Calculations show that the shot noise limited sensitivity of the gyro can be improved by introducing the multi-turn structure into the ring when the excess loss of the crossed waveguides is lower than a critical value. The OWRR with two turns is fabricated on silica waveguide by low pressure chemical vapor deposition (LPVCD) method. Measurements show that the finesses of the one-turn resonator and the two-turn resonator are 50.8 and 20.0 respectively. The great degeneracy of the finesse is due to that the excess loss of the crossed waveguides is high as 0.899dB. Further analysis shows when the excess loss is lower than 0.3dB, the gyro sensitivity will be increased by means of the OWRR with multi-turn structures.

Abstract:Motivated by the attitude control of missile, we consider the tracking problem of nonlinear systems via finite value control. First, the Fliess expansion is used to describe the outputs. Using piece-wise finite value control and the quadratic criteria, the optimal control is obtained. Then for certain model uncertainty, the model predictive control is considered. On line predicted uncertain parameters are used to update the system\\\\\\\

Abstract:In this paper, ultra thin CVD HfO2-gated nMOS capacitors (nMOSCs) with EOT~0.9 nm were fabricated. The time-dependent dielectric breakdown (TDDB) characteristics of the 0.9 nm HfO2 gate stack were studied under constant voltage stress (CVS). Area scaling consistent with Weibull statistics as in SiO2 was observed in the gate stack, demonstrating that intrinsic effects dominate time-dependent dielectric breakdown (TDDB) characteristics of the ultra thin HfN/HfO2 gate stack. For the first time, different TDDB characteristics under gate injection with low and high CVS were demonstrated in the sub-1 nm EOT HfO2 gated devices. The results show that interfacial layer initiated breakdown dominates the TDDB under low CVS and HfO2 bulk initiated breakdown under high CVS. A new breakdown model is proposed to explain the new demonstrated TDDB characteristics.

Abstract:Several preconditioning techniques, such as Jacobi、SSOR and ILU0, are used to accelerate the convergence of iterative methods, such as CG and GMRES, which are used to solve the large system of linear equations resulted from the time-domain finite-element methods (TDFEM). Convergence properties and the time used of these conventional preconditioning techniques are also compared and analyzed. The cylindrical cavity partially filled with dielectric rod and the PML terminated waveguides are simulated. Numerical results show that the ILU0 preconditioned method converges the fastest and costs the smallest time in TDFEM compared with other preconditioning techniques when computing the same number of time steps.

Abstract:The two-step SAI-SSOR_CG method is applied in this paper to solve the large system of linear equations resulted from the hierarchical implicit TDFEM method. Convergence properties of this two-step SAI-SSOR_CG method are compared with other preconditioned CG algorithms, including SAI_CG and SSOR_CG. Numerical results demonstrate that the two-step SAI-SSOR_CG method performances the best. Also the reversing Cuthill-McKee (RCM) ordering method is used to reorder the sparse matrices created by the hierarchical implicit TDFEM scheme. And the RCM ordering method makes SAI-SSOR-CG method more efficient.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the coordination of a network of second-order dynamic agents under communication delays. Based on the frequency-domain analysis and matrix theory, the necessary and sufficient condition for the system converging to stationary consensus and dynamic consensus are obtained, respectively. The condition depends on the communication delay, the eigenvalues of the Laplacian matrix, and the interconnection topology of the network. Moreover, we apply the consensus algorithm to the formation control of the multi-agent system with communication delays. The agents in the system can achieve arbitrary desired formation pattern, and the formation moves in a desired velocity. Simulation results illustrate the correctness of the results.
