Abstract:This paper shows Exponential effective SNR mapping (EESM) algorithms implemented as Channel Quality Indicator (CQI) selection technique in LTE system. EESM method utilizes the post processing SINRs (Signal to Interference and Noise Ratio) to compute the effective SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio), then adjusts the transmitted information data rate (modulation scheme and channel coding rate) dynamically to match the prevailing radio channel capacity for each user. From the simulation results we can find that EESM algorithm works stable in the whole system chain and can offer around 25% throughput gain comparing to the lower bound.

Abstract:In this paper we assess the performance of uplink virtual MIMO in WiMAX. Virtual MIMO allows two or more individual users to transmit independently on the same resource blocks, which just looks as if there are multiple transmitting antennas. Thus, one of the most important processes of a virtual MIMO system is user pairing. Some user pairing algorithms have been proposed in literatures. Simulation results show that the virtual MIMO system’s performance mainly depends on the user pairing algorithm. RPS (random user pairing scheduling) is simple, but it can not improve the performance evidently, even may make the performance worse. DPS (determinant pairing scheduling) can achieve higher throughput, but can not offer a good fairness among the users. DPF (double proportional fair user pairing algorithm) can achieve good trade-off between the throughput and fairness.

Abstract:Channel estimation is crucial for orthogonal frequency division multiplexed (OFDM) systems. In this paper, a low-complexity training-based channel estimation method is proposed. By carefully designing the training sequence, no complex multiplications are needed at the receiver. The computational complexity of the proposed scheme is much lower than that of the maximum likelihood (ML) estimation. However, the complexity is reduced at the expense of performance loss. To find the trade-off between complexity and performance, we then modify the original proposed scheme. The simulation results show that, compared with the ML estimation, the proposed scheme can significantly reduce the complexity with only slight performance losses.

Show/Hide Abstract | Cite this paper︱Full-text: PDF (0 B)
Abstract:Rayleigh fading model is the most common model to describe the fading experienced by the radio signal in cities. In the first part of this paper, the statistical model for Rayleigh fading is presented, as well as the further classification of Rayleigh fading based on the parameter characteristics, with emphasis on frequency-selective fading and its usual mitigation methods. In the second part the mitigation method adopted in IS-95 CDMA: RAKE receiver, is introduced. Then, an example of 2-branch RAKE receiver is illustrated to show the advantage of RAKE receiver, together with equal gain combination technique which is one of the common three combination techniques used in IS-95.

Abstract:For Evolved-UTRA system based on Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM), with orthogonality within the cell, the main interference will be inter-cell interference. It is important to consider what techniques to be used in E-UTRA to handle inter-cell interference. The common theme of inter-cell interference coordination/avoidance is to apply restrictions to the resource management in a coordinated way between cells, whatever static, semi-static or dynamic coordinated way. The restrictions of transmit power or time/frequency resource will provide the possibility for improvement in signal-to-interference ratio. In this paper, the combination of beam-forming with inter-cell interference coordination/avoidance approach will be analyzed. And some simulation results will be given to further analyze the performance of inter-cell interference mitigation with beam-forming and the combinations. Beam-forming can be easily combined with other inter-cell interference mitigation approaches for more efficient inter-cell interference suppression.
