Abstract:Ignoring some cell overlaps, global placement computes the bestposition for each cell to minimize some cost metric (e.g., totalwirelength, density overflow). It is a crucial step in very largescale integration(VLSI) physical design, since it affectsroutability, performance, and power consumption of a circuit. Inthis paper, we propose an Augmented Lagrangian method to solve theVLSI global placement. In this method, a cautiousdynamic density weight increasing strategy is used to balance thewirelength and density constraint. We incorporated our method intoNTUplace3's global placement framework, and tested it on the IBM mixed-size benchmark circuits.Experimental results show that it obtains high-quality results in areasonable running time.

Abstract:This paper presents an Android platform's phone steering control system and method which uses phone vibrator to drive the phone to rotate and bases on the orientation sensor to accurately control the rotating angle. This paper first introduces the background of the system and the principle of the method. In addition, it also analyzes and compares the control system between the traditional PTZ control and the control based on the phone vibrator and orientation sensor, which proves the advantage of this design. And then, on this basis, this paper describes the main control system architecture, the basic flow of the steering control and data transfer method between the control terminal and the smart phone. This paper also describes the implementation and results of this method and proves the design's feasibility and correctness.

Abstract:Since Internet was widely used, enterprise application architecture has experienced many significant changes, which now can generally be divided into two architecture modes, C/S and B/S. Difficult deployment and update problems of C/S and the lack of friendly user experience of B/S are always hard to solve and avoid for developers and users. Developers need to find a new technology to solve these problems, so RIA comes out. Web Service is the best practice of SOA which is more suitable for the construction of distributed application system. In this paper we combined Web Service with RIA and discussed the Web Service invocation process. We first give an overview of RIA architecture technology and related researches, and then present a Web Service-based application framework for building RIA applications and finally we provide a .Net SOAP Web Service invocation implementation as an example.

Abstract:Because of containing enough texture information around base point, Local Binary Pattern features and Gabor features shows excellent performance under batch light varying and rotation. However, the complicated calculation and feature’s high dimension are the biggest restriction in application. Therefore, in this paper we proposed a novel method called Binary Gabor Codes based on above two methods. The key idea is calculating local binary patterns on the corresponding Gabor Magnitude Pictures (GMPs), the calculation and dimension are both decreased. Because of containing both information of local texture and block gray varying, BGC features are more overwhelming comparing with Local Binary Patterns (LBP), Gabor jets and independent component features. What’s more, Experimental results show that it has improved the recognition rate greatly, especially in bad condition.

Abstract:Dynamic geometry system (DGS) is a computer application that allows the exact on-screen plotting of geometric constructions, and the geometric properties among them remain unchanged when one or several geometric objects are moved. Currently, there are many DGS for plane geometry education, but hardly any DGS are available for space geometry education, especially in China. To aid the teaching and learning of space geometry, we proposed and implemented a three-dimensional DGS named Dragon3D Sketchpad in this paper. Firstly, we made a requirement analysis of the system and presented the system architecture. Then, we designed the interaction and the updating mechanism. At last, we used Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 development tools to implement the system in the Windows environment, and demonstrated the functions by some examples. The results show that geometric objects could be plotted and manipulated easily in three dimensions, the common functions for a DGS such as animation, transformation, locus, iteration and measurement are realized for the spatial objects, and the updating process is very smooth, which means that the Dragon3D Sketchpad is useful in space geometry class.

Abstract:This paper describes a new method for shadow detection of moving objects in video surveillance applications, improving the detection performance and fascinating the following image processing steps, such as object tracking, classification and behavior analysis. This method is based on the priori that shadow region and background region share the similar textural and chromatic characteristics. This method combines the virtues of color and texture features, to select the best criterion to discriminate shadow pixels from object pixels. Experiment shows that this method can achieve desirable performance under indoor and outdoor environment.

8. Multi-Dimension Sandpile Space: a new theory of representation and reasoning for experience knowledge

Abstract:Fuzzy experience knowledge cannot be explained quantitatively with mathematical formula or certain rules. In order to solve this problem, a new theory of Multi- Dimension Sandpile Space (MDSS) was proposed in this paper with analogy to the Sandpile Model in self-organization theory. MDSS theory has the ability of dealing with uncertain or fuzzy knowledge by combining the virtues of fuzzy logic theory and neural networks, the characteristic of continual learning of case-based reasoning (CBR), and avoided the unceasing inflation of the size of information in database when using CBR. Finally, the simulation results of an example are given to show the change of the size of database by using MDSS theory.

Abstract:SOA implementations based on request/reply model lack certain loose coupling and cooperativity. Event-Driven Architecture (EDA) is particularly suitable for loosely coupled communications. By introducing Event-Driven paradigm into Service-Oriented Architecture, the system can achieve loose couple communication and cooperativity. But the traditional event-handling model can not cope with highly complex and dynamic real-time business issues and can not provide flexible publish and subscribe. This paper presents an improved event-handling model, which introduces event filter to filter the events in order to get the service according to the consumer's interest. The model will be used widely due to its flexible response to users' request through customizable rules generated by rule controller. The algorithm used in rule controller is not concerned about in this paper.

Abstract:A new two-layer hidden Markov model is proposed to describe the arrival rate process of Web traffic. The macro state process of the first underlying layer is used to describe the large-scale trends of network traffic. The sub-state process of the second underlying layer is used to describe the small-scale fluctuations that are happening during the duration of a given macro state. Experiments are implemented to validate the proposed model.
