Abstract:Several existence results of multiple periodic solutions for discrete Hamiltonian system are established. In this paper two cases are discussed which the nonlinearity is either asymptotically linear or superlinear at infinity. The approach used here is based on Morse theory.

Abstract:Based on the Legendre transform, the dual action functional which corresponds to discrete Hamiltonian systems is given. In this paper, the existence of periodic solution for discrete convex Hamiltonian systems with forcing terms is obtained by using the dual least action principle and perturbation technique.

Abstract:The main purpose of this note is to investigate the admissibility condition of irregular wavelet frames. We prove that if the system {ψ(l) m,n = s.1/2 m ψ(l)(s.1 m · .tn) : m, n ∈ Z, l = 1, 2, · · · ,N} constitute a frame for L2(R), then the integral dξ ξ.1N l=1 | . ψ(l)(ξ)|2 is bounded up and below. Furthermore, we give a specific estimate for the upper and lower bounds, which extends Daubechies’ result to irregular wavelet frames.

8. The Method of Lower and Upper Solutions for Fourth Order
Wei zhongli | |||
Mathematics 30 November 2005
Show/Hide Abstract | Cite this paper︱Full-text: PDF (0 B)
Abstract:This paper investigates the existence of positive solutions for fourth order singular $m$-point boundary value problems. Firstly, we establish a comparison theorem, then we define a partial ordering in $ C^2 [a,b]\cap C^4(a,b)$ and construct lower and upper solutions to give a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of $C^2[0,1]$ as well as $C^3[0,1]$ positive solutions. Our nonlinearity $f(t,x,y)$ may be singular at $x,\ y, \ t=0$ and /or $t=1$.

Mathematics 30 November 2005
Show/Hide Abstract | Cite this paper︱Full-text: PDF (0 B)
Abstract:Filters and open filters are useful utilities to explore structures of domains. In this paper, it is proved that for a continuous distributive semilattice $L$, $OFilt(L)$ is a distributive lattice iff $L$ is stably continuous. And an example is given to show that in the general case, the distributivity of $L$ cannot imply that of $OFilt(L)$.
