Abstract:An interesting phenomenon that the Q-switched mode-locking (QML) occurs in a acousto-optic Nd:YVO4 laser without any mode-locking components was observed in our experiment. The modulation depth nearly reaches to 90%. We think this phenomenon should not be attributed to the Kerr effect of the gain medium. Finally it is explained by introduction of gain-related effects.

Abstract:Based on a serious analysis of the Frobenius integrability condition for affine differential constraints that mechanical systems are subject to, the necessary and sufficient conditions for coincidence of three kinds of unfree variations, the existence of simple symplectic structure of the constraint sub-manifold and equivalence of nonholonomic and vakono- mic dynamics for the constrained systems are respect- iveely obtained, which are all related with partial Frobenius integrability condition in their special forms. Two illustrative examples are presented to verify theresults.

Abstract:We add a nonstandard higgs into the traditional bosonic part of electroweak chiral Lagrangian, in purpose of finding out the contribution to EWCL coefficients from processes with internal line higgs particle. To construct the effective Lagrangian with higgs, we use low energy expansion scheme and write down all the independent terms conserving $SU(2)\times U_Y(1)$ symmetry in the nonlinear representation which we show is equivalent to the linear representation. Then we integrate out higgs using loop expansion technique at 1-loop level, contributions from all possible terms are obtained. We find up to order of $p^4$ in low energy expansion, three terms, $\mathcal{L}_5$, $\mathcal{L}_7$, $\mathcal{L}_{10}$ in EWCL are important, for which the contributions from higgs can be further expressed in terms of higgs partial decay width $\Gamma_{h\rightarrow ZZ}$ and $\Gamma_{h\rightarrow WW}$. Higg mass dependence of the coefficients in EWCL are discussed.

Abstract:The magnetic properties of the mixed ferro-ferrimagnetic compounds with (AaBbCc)yD, where A, B, C and D are four different magnetic ions and form four sublattices, are studied by using the standard mean-field theory. In c-a , b-c and a-b diagrams, the concentration regions of occurrence of two compensation points, and of a compensation point are given, respectively. The phase diagrams of the transition temperature Tc versus a, b and c, and of the compensation temperature Tcomp versus a, b and c are obtained, respectively. The temperature dependences of the magnetization are also investigated. This work is related to experimental works of the molecule-based ferro-ferrimagnet (NiaIIMnbIIFecII)1.5[CrIII(CN)6]2H2O.

Abstract:Studied in this paper is the influence on the high-index-core Bragg fiber dispersion properties imposed by low-index-layer filling ratio variance in different rings within the cladding, using a full-vector finite element method. The confinement loss of dispersion-flattened high-index-core Bragg fibers is evaluated to be huge due to the small low-index-layer filling ratio. Moreover, nearly-zero flattened dispersion over wide wavelength range around 1550nm, by numerical simulation, is demonstrated in one-dimensional high-index-core microstructured optical fibers with non-uniform low-index-layer filling ratio in different rings. The results show that both flattened dispersion and low confinement loss can be achieved with finite low-index-layer rings.

Abstract:Based on better understanding of the lattice vibration modes, two simple spring-mass models are constructed in order to estimate the frequencies on both the lower and upper edges of the lowest locally resonant band gaps of both the two- and three-dimensional ternary locally resonant phononic crystals. The parameters of the models are given in a reasonable way based on the physical insight of the band gap mechanism. Both the lumped-mass methods and our models are used in the study of the influences of structural and the material parameters on frequencies on both edges of the lowest gaps of in the two- and three-dimensional locally resonant phononic crystals. The analytical estimations with our models and the theoretical predictions with the lumped-mass method are in good agreement. The newly proposed heuristic models are helpful with better understanding of the locally resonant band gap mechanism, as well as better estimation of the band edge frequencies.

Abstract:The effect of S1=1 regularly dilution in S2=1/2 isotropic antiferromagnetic chain is investigated by a quantum Monte Carlo simulation. Our numerical results show that two kinds of ground-state phases alternate with a variation of the S1=1 concentration. When the effective spin in one unit cell is half-integer the ground state is ferrimagnetic with gapless energy spectrum and the magnetism decreases with decreasing of spin S1 concentration,P=1/K. While the effective spin is integer, a non-magnetic ground state with a gapped spectrum is emerged, and the gap decays gradually in a tendency fitted as {1.25*(P)^0.5}.
