Abstract:In this paper, a necessary and sufficient conditionof the global controllability for a class of low dimensionalpolynomial affine nonlinear systems with special structure isobtained. The condition is imposed on the coefficients of thesystem only and the methods are based on Green's formula and thetrajectory analysis of planar linear system. Furthermore, we pointout that the global controllability does not hold for thecorresponding high dimensional polynomial system.

Abstract:In this paper, the problem of stability for a class of neutral neural networks with time-varying delays and distributed time-delays is discussed. By constructing a novel type Lyapunov-krasovskii functional, some new criterion concerning global asymptotic stability are presented for a class of neutral neural networks with time-varying delays and distributed time-delays. Since these new criteria do not require the activation functions to be differentiable, bounded or monotone nondecreasing and the connection weight matrices to be symmetric, they are mild and more general than previously known criteria.

Abstract:The simultaneous stabilization of a collection of Boolean controlnetworks (BCN) is investigated in this paper, and severalcontrollers are designed. The dynamics of each BCN is converted to adiscrete-time bilinear system by using the semi-tensor product ofmatrices and matrix expression of logical functions, based on whichthe simultaneous stabilization of the collection of BCNs is thenstudied. Main results contain two parts: (i) two sufficientconditions and two necessary and sufficient conditions are obtainedfor the simultaneous stabilization of a group of neat BCNs byfeedback control, including state feedback and output feedback, and(ii) for non-neat BCNs, by introducing some auxiliary state andoutput variables, the group of BCNs are converted into the neatones, and then several sufficient conditions and necessary andsufficient conditions are established for the simultaneousstabilization.

Abstract:This paper discusses the problem of stabilization for a class of switched neutral systems with discrete time-varying delays. None of the individual subsystems needs assume to be stable. By employing a multiple generalized Lyapunov functionals method and a free weighting matrix technique, a delay-dependent stabilization criterion is developed in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) under a hysteresis switching law which can aviod sliding modes effectively. Finally, an example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract:Due to power and bandwidth limitationin wireless sensor network, thesensor communications to a fusion center are often intermittent. In this article, we point out that the distributed estimation fusion algorithm can be used in the discrete time linear dynamic system even if the sensor noises are cross-correlated.Compared with existing distributed fusion algorithms, the biggest advantage of this distributed fusion algorithm can be globally optimal no matter how long is the intermittent communicationperiod provided that the intermittent communications are synchronous.

Abstract:In this paper, a discrete-time recurrent neural networks with global exponential stability are proposed for solving constrained linear variational inequalities problems. Compared with the existing neural networks for linear variational inequalities, the proposed neural network in this paper has lower model complexity with only one-layer structure. The global exponential stability of the neural network can be guaranteed under some mild conditions. Simulation results show the performance and characteristic of the proposed neural network.

Abstract:This paper addresses the disturbance decoupling problem (DDP) of multi-valued logical networks by using the semi-tensor product of matrices and matrix expression of logic functions, and presents several new results on the DDP. First, in order to solve the DDP, an output-friendly subspace is constructed for the state space of the multi-valued logical networks. Second, based on the output-friendly subspace and semi-tensor product, we establish a new procedure to deal with the DDP.

Abstract:This paperinvestigates the H∞ output tracking control problem for aclass of cascade switched nonlinear systems. The solvabilityconditions for the H∞ output tracking control problem aredeveloped. Under a designed switching law, the tracking controlproblem of a switched nonlinear system is solvable if the subsystems satisfy certain conditions. A controller is also designed to solve the H∞ output tracking control problem based onthe multiple Lyapunov function method. An example illustrates theeffectiveness of the proposed approach.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with multistability of complex-valued recurrent neural networks with a class nondecreasing piecewise linear activation function. By using decomposition of state space, sufficient conditions are established to ensure that n-dimensional complex-valued neural networks with a general class of activation function can have 9^n equilibria, 4^n of them are locally exponentially stable and others are unstable. Moreover, the attractive basins of equilibria are investigated. The results improve and extend the existing stability results in the literatures. One simulation example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the results.

Abstract:In the absence of valid medicines or vaccine, quarantine and isolation strategies are the most important andeffective measures against the epidemics such as SARS (Severe AcuteRespiratory Syndrome). In this paper, the stability analysis of thedisease-free equilibrium for the Multi-area SEQIJR SARS propagationmodel with the quarantine and isolation control were investigated. The influence of the inter-area population flow to SARS control weremainly addressed. When the coupling matrix C describing theinter-area population flow has two special structures of outer:star-shaped coupled structure and globally coupled structure, thestability problems were studied in details.
