Abstract:Super resolution (SR) reconstruction algorithms make use of complimentary information among low resolution (LR) images to yield a high resolution (HR) image. Inspired by recent development on the video denosing problem, we propose a partial differential equation (PDE) model for SR based on a constrained variational model that use the nonlocal total variation (TV) as a regularization term. Experiments show the effectiveness and practicability of the proposed method.

Abstract:Thanks to its advantages that beat the traditional film, digital cinema is becoming more and more popular. But its strong points also bring some problems, one of which is that its convenience of storage and transmission makes it more likely to be pirated. Therefore, security is very important to digital cinema. This paper designs a security system which includes digital certificate manager, digital cinema issuer, encrypted digital cinema package producer and digital cinema manager, based on some security key techniques and digital cinema standards. The paper will clarify the functions of each part and explain how they work together. In order to be practical, the system is designed to be compliant with the specifications released by Digital Cinema Initiatives, LLC (DCI).

Abstract:A novel stereo matching algorithm is proposed based on the sub-pixel matching scheme. Because much information of the scene is lost in the sampling grid, the disparity maps obtained by sub-pixel matching have more precise structures than those by integer-pixel matching. Sub-pixel values are essential to the performance. In order to compute the sub-pixel values as close as possible to the actual ones, we propose the half phase DCT (HPDCT) interpolation algorithm. It improves upon the DCT-based algorithm based on the characteristics of the disparity map. We also compare the HPDCT algorithm with the linear interpolation and nearest-neighbor interpolation algorithms. Both the subjective evaluation and objective index demonstrate the advantages of the proposed algorithm over integer-pixel matching and sub-pixel matching with the other two interpolation algorithms.

Abstract:The video encoder with low-complexity has received a lot of attention in recent years, where distributed video coding (DVC) and compressive sensing (CS) are proposed as two enabling techniques. On one hand, by exploiting the correlation at the decoder rather than the encoder, DVC shifts the computation burden from the encoder to the decoder. On the other hand, the framework of CS has shown that sparse signals can be recovered from far less samples than that required by the classical Shannon-Nyquist Theorem. In this paper, to utilize advantages of both two techniques, we introduce a sub-sampling enhanced DVC (SSED) framework. Two layers are transmitted in SSED, where the base layer is generated by a standard video coder, while the sub-sampling enhancement layer is generated by CS operation to improve the signal quality in the base layer. When compared with the traditional fully-sampling framework, SSED saves huge sampling and storage costs due to the sub-sampling operation. Furthermore, without compromising the recovered video quality, SSED is shown to enjoy more favorable features, i.e., rate reduction, robustness to channel loss and lower operation complexity, which are verified by simulations. These results demonstrate that SSED is a promising framework in video streaming applications.

Abstract:Color image enhancement directly in the DCT domain is an efficient approach in high speed data transmission. However, such methods often suffer from blocking artifact due to inappropriate scaling between adjacent blocks. We propose an improved method based on anisotropic diffusion that overcomes this difficulty. Simulation results show that the proposed method can effectively remove blocking artifact introduced during the DCT coefficient scaling stage, resulting in much improved performance over some of state of the art methods.

Abstract:Digital image compression and code technology is to resolve the problem that large image information in the transmission .This paper’s fractal Code algorithm is based on the IFS, passes a programming, in the Matlab7.0 environment, takes the minimal different pixel area piece respectively to the same image, realizes the code compressing code compromise to its mark shape, and then gets their decipher image respectively, analyses reasons for different results. From the theoretical analysis, fractal image compression and code technology has a great advantage to improve the image’s compression ratio and the decoding time is very little ,it is also conducive to enhance the speed of communication, its biggest drawback is that compression time is very long, needs for further improvement.

Abstract:Quantization Index Modulation is an important class of watermark methods, which has been widely used in blind watermark applications. And it is well known that spread transform dither modulation (STDM), as an extension of QIM, has good performance in robustness to random noise and re-quantization. However, the quantization step sizes used in STDM are random numbers which didn’t take the image’s feature into account. In this paper, we proposed a step projection-based STDM algorithm, which applies a novel way to incorporate the modified perceptual model with STDM framework. Experimental results indicate that our proposed scheme fixes up the weakness of the original STDM, the excessive sensitivity to valumetric scaling, successfully. Meanwhile, the robustness of STDM to Salt&Pepper Noise has been improved by a large scale. Compared with the former proposed modified schemes of STDM, our proposed scheme has considerable advantages, especially on robustness to random noise and JPEG compression.

Abstract:By integrating adaptive robust watermark and simplified fragile watermark, a digital sealing scheme is proposed. The digital seal, which resembles conventional one, shows robustness against attacks like Gaussian noise, median filtering, JPEG compression and cropping. Furthermore, any modification of the seal can be detected. Consequently, the digital sealing technique fulfills the purposes of confidentiality, authentication, integrity and non-repudiation.

Abstract:Single-chip digital cameras use color filter arrays (CFA) to sample different color component. So demosaicking algorithms to complete RGB values is necessary. In this paper, we introduce the data adaptive filtering concept, exploit it for demosaicking, and finally propose a novel demosaicking algorithm for Bayer color filter array. Using a different function mapping, we adopt the color difference model, predict the color difference value at the R/B location and then update it. Through the refined color difference value, we first interpolate the full G channel, and then recover R and B channels. The efficiency of the proposed approach is demonstrated by experimental results with simulated and real data. It not only performs the high quality of our approach visually but also has a notably lower computational cost.

Abstract:This paper presents a new pedestrian detection method using a monochrome video camera for driving assistance system. The algorithm is based on the cascade classifier structure first proposed by Viola for face detection. Several extensions have been proposed to make the detection framework more competent for pedestrian detection. First, two new haar like features using two separated rectangles are proposed to enrich the feature pool. Second, the decision tree is used as weak hypothesis of Real Adaboost to capture the dependencies between these features and a new splitting criterion for the tree is used to minimize the error bound of Real Adaboost directly. Third, a tree cascade classifier structure is adopted to deal with intra-class difference of pedestrian. Finally, a kalman filter is used to combine single frame detections together. Pooling together all the strategies, a new pedestrian detection system has been developed which can detect pedestrians as small as 14×28 pixels at 15f/s for a 320×240 image on a P4 3.0GHz computer.
