Abstract:Dipolar cycloaddition of (diisopropoxyphosphoryl) nitrile oxide with vinylphosphonate leads to the formation of isoxazoles bearing two or three phosphoryl groups, and with phosphaalkyne provides a phosphabiisoxazole bearing two phosphoryl groups.

Abstract:Two new coordination polymers, [M(phen)(e,a-cis-1,4-chdc)(H2O)]n (1, M = Mn; 2, M = Cu; chdc = 1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid; phen = 1,10-phenanthroline), were prepared under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by IR spectra and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. X-ray crystal structural analyses reveal that 1 and 2 are isomorphic and belong to the monoclinic system. C20H20MnN2O5, P2(1)/c, a = 10.235(2) Å, b = 8.9134(19) Å, c = 20.466(4) Å, b = 99.820(3)°, Z = 4 for 1; and C20H20CuN2O5, P21/c, a = 10.002(3) Å, b = 8.949(2) Å, c = 20.270(5) Å, b = 99.694(3)° Z = 4 for 2. In the structures of 1 and 2, the 1,4-chdc ligand possesses only one kind of e,a-cis conformation although there are both cis- and trans-conformations in the raw material.

Abstract:Nonlinear simulations demonstrate the possibility for a coaxial-waveguide cyclotron autoresonance maser (CARM) amplifier to operate at frequency of 140 GHz in hundreds watts with ultrahigh gain of 68 dB. Careful design of the operating magnetic field is of importance to the power of the device, although the other initial parameters such as electron-beam radius and voltage affect the power, too. Like a cylindrical-waveguide CARM, a coaxial-waveguide CARM amplifier is sensitive on the velocity spreads of the electron beam

Abstract:Chloroformylation of 5,5-dimethyl-1,2-oxathiolan-4-one 2,2-dioxide 4 with Vilsmeier reagent (DMF/POCl3) led to the formation of cyclic b-chlorovinylaldehyde (4-chloro-5,5-dimethyl-3-formyl-1,2-oxathiolene 2,2-dioxide 5). Compound 5 reacted with formamidine, o-amino-phenol, phthalamine, amino-pyrazole and amino-tetrazole to give the corresponding heterocyclic compounds.

5. On the Relations between Players in Games

Mathematics 03 November 2004
Show/Hide Abstract | Cite this paper︱Full-text: PDF (0 B)
Abstract:The relations between players have a great influence on how a player chooses his strategy in games. By using numerical values denoting the relations between players a novel game model was put forward in this study. A player will choose strategy on the basis of his subjective payoffs, which can be calculated from the new game model. Either of cooperative or non-cooperative games are specific cases of it. A new type of games called hostile game as well as how relations between players reflect one’s attitude to others was studied. A good case in point is prisoners’ dilemma, which is analyzed in terms of the new method.

Abstract:Let μ be a non-negative Radon measure on Rd which only satisfies some growth condition. Under this assumption, the boundedness in some Hardy-type spaces are established or a class of maximal Calderon-Zygmund operators and maximal commutators which are variant of the usual maximal commutators generated by Calderon-Zygmund operators and RBMO(μ) functions, where the Hardy-type spaces are some appropriate subspaces, associated with the considered RBMO(μ) functions, of the Hardy space H1(μ) of Tolsa.

7. On cheap talk in games
Jia-wei Li | |||
Mathematics 22 October 2004
Show/Hide Abstract | Cite this paper︱Full-text: PDF (0 B)
Abstract:It has been proved in many studies that cheap talk has great influence on the players’ choices of strategies in games. But the effect of cheap talk has still not been properly evaluated in game theory. Based on a novel game model with parameters denoting how one player cares for the other’s payoff, we can take the relations between players into account in games and extend the use of games theory. In this study the effect of cheap talk was analyzed by using the new game model. Two examples – a modified prisoners’ dilemma and threatening letter – were studied to explain how cheap talk could greatly influence the results of games.

8. A Novel Removal Method of Trace Silicon Impurity from Aluminum Tri-isopropoxide

Abstract:A novel purification method is proposed to remove trace silicon impurity from aluminum tri-isopropoxide. By interacting a lanthanide-metal complex with the silicon impurity in aluminum tri-isopropoxide, an involatile silicon-containing compound is formed. After a vacuum distillation the silicon content in aluminum tri-isopropoxide can be reduced from 16 ppm to less than 2.6 ppm. The purification process was described and discussed.

Abstract:A complicated problem faced by organizations is how to balance their potential opportunity costs against the expense of securing their IT infrastructure (preventative defensive measures). The primary goal of this paper is to minimize the costs when we implement preventive defensive measures in a new university campus or enterprise. On the basic assumption that the opportunity costs function are all inverse proportion functions, and with our introduction of 0-1 variables to represent different defensive measure, we constructed an non-linear, restricted optimal model (see formula (10)) to obtain a minimum costs. With the help of the mathematic software LINGO we got the minimum costs and determined the corresponding politic and technical defensive measures.
