Abstract:Halogen is always brought by the process of wet etching for fused silica devices, which dramatically influence the performance of the devices. Using ab initio quantum mechanical methods we investigate the adsorption properties for halogen atoms (F, Cl) on fused silica surface. We focus on the interaction mechanisms of halogen atoms with two main surface defects and make comparison for the absorption capacity of different surface defects. Furthermore, the electronic structure for impurity defects are also studied.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the nonautonomous characteristics of the W-shaped solitons on constant backgrounds for a variable-coefficient higher-order nonlinear Schrödinger (vc-HNLS) equation. Several types of solitons are obtained in exponentially, linearly and periodically fluctuating decreasing dispersion profiles, respectively. We also show the compression effect of the third-order dispersion (TOD) coefficient on the W-shaped soliton. We further analyze the formation and spatiotemporal characteristics of the Peregrine combs (PCs) when TOD coefficient is of the periodic form. Moreover, the PC can be converted into the Peregrine wall if the modulation amplitude is equal to 1.

Abstract:In this paper, the Yb3+/Ho3+ co-doped air-cladding fibers with 0.08 Ho2O3 -0.15 Yb2O3-1.5Al2O3-98.27 SiO2 (mol%) and low OH are fabricated with the stack-capillary-draw technique. The influence of drawn temperature and drawn speed on the fiber structure are studied. The influence of the fiber length on the optical properties is experimentally demonstrated. Experimental results show that the Yb3+/Ho3+ co-doped air-cladding fibers can be used as the potential material for the fiber laser at the visible and infrared spectral regions.

Abstract:This paper reports our investigation result about the pre-milling treatment effect of BaCO3 powder on physical properties of the resultant BaTiO3 ceramics prepared by conventional solid-state reaction. BaCO3 powder usually consists of large rod-shaped particles, which cannot be easily broken up into fine ones when ball-milled together with TiO2 powder. This may lead to chemical compositional non-uniformity and large particle sizes of the subsequently synthesized BaTiO3 powder, and may eventually affect microstructure and piezoelectric properties of the resultant BaTiO3 ceramics. Our study showed that an additional ball-milling treatment of BaCO3 powderbefore being mixed with TiO2 powder is an effective mean to get good-quality BaTiO3 fine powder. In such a way, we fabricated a series of small-grained dense BaTiO3 ceramics with significantly high piezoelectric coefficient d33. A much enhanced d33 value of 470 pC/N was achieved in comparison to the previous maximum one of 410 pC/N for those BaTiO3 ceramics formed through ordinary ceramic procedure.

Abstract:In the progress of improving the performance of single photon source for the quantum communication network, efficient coupling of the emitted light from the nano-emitter to photonic circuits is challenging. Nanoantenna can change the emission performance of single photon source. We put a nano-cube aside the single photon emitter as a reflector, and investigate the influence of the material and the side length of nano-cube on the emission properties of cube nanoantenna. And we change the emitter direction by changing the distance of the dipole emitter and nano-cube.

Abstract:The sensitivity of fiber optical seismometer could be further improved by optimizing the structure and using multilayer fiber coils. In this paper, the strain distribution of fiber coils is analyzed and simulated, the simulated result shows that not only the position, but also the number of the fiber layers have significant effects on the sensitivity. A 7-layer fiber coil that fixed on the optimized position obtain a higher sensitivity than other structures. The optimized structure is useful for designing a more practical disk-type seismometer that with higher sensitivity and lighter weight.

Abstract:Using time depended density function theory(TDDFT), the absorption spectra of the Nitrogen-doped graphene and gold film composite nanostructure when the pulse excitation polarized in the X-axis, Y-axis, Z-axis direction, respectively. When the pulse excitation polarized in the X-axis and Y-axis direction the energy points are in the visible region. The induced charge density distribution indicates the charge transform plasmon (CTP)mode. The material is expected to splitting water using visible light.

Abstract:Excited states of the doubly-odd 130Cs have been investigated via the 124Sn(10B; 4n) and 124Sn(11B; 5n) fusion-evaporation reactions at beam energies of 47 and 58 MeV, respectively. In addition to the previously known high-lying bands, a great deal of low-lying states near the ground state have been identified for the first time. In particular, based on the observation of some new critical linking transitions, the excitaton energy for the (h11/2)p+(h11/2)n band is firrmly determined, allowing a more rigirous spin parity assignment for this band. The excitation energy systematics of (h11/2)+(h11/2)n yrast bands of odd-odd isotopes 118-132Cs is reinvestigated. Discrepancy between the spin assignments for 120,122Cs and 130Cs is briey discussed.

Abstract:High-spin states in the Z=55 125Cs isotope have been investigated by means of standard in-beam gamma-ray spectroscopy. Gamma-gamma coincidences were measured and a more complete level scheme of 125Cs is constructed. The bands based on the g7/2 and d5/2 configurations at low spins are extended up to spins where they are crossed by two high-lying three-quasiparticle bands. Possible configurations of the three-quasiparticle bands are discussed in the framework of cranked-shell-model calculations and are suggested to be associated with prolate and oblate shapes. In the prolate band, the alignment is assigned to h11/2 neutrons, whereas in the oblate band the alignment of h11/2 protons followed by the alignment of h11/2 neutrons are suggested.

Abstract:The influences of focal lens tilting on the filamentation of femtosecond laser pulses in fused silica were studied experimentally. The length of filamentation, output beam profile and supercontinuum generation were found to be close related with the tilt angle of the focusing element. When the focusing lens is rotated, the filament breaks into two parts along the propagation axis. The distance between the two parts was calculated and well matched with the predicted results. it is also found that the supercontinum spectrum becomes narrower and its conversion efficiency becomes lower by rotating the focal lens.
