Abstract:In this paper, we study the nonautonomous characteristics of the W-shaped solitons on constant backgrounds for a variable-coefficient higher-order nonlinear Schrödinger (vc-HNLS) equation. Several types of solitons are obtained in exponentially, linearly and periodically fluctuating decreasing dispersion profiles, respectively. We also show the compression effect of the third-order dispersion (TOD) coefficient on the W-shaped soliton. We further analyze the formation and spatiotemporal characteristics of the Peregrine combs (PCs) when TOD coefficient is of the periodic form. Moreover, the PC can be converted into the Peregrine wall if the modulation amplitude is equal to 1.

Abstract:The availability of big data recorded from massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) allow us to gain a deeper understanding the potential connection between avatar's network positidon and their economic production. We use a statistical filtering method to construct dependence networks from weighted friendship networks of avatars. We identify 30 distinct motif positions in the 13 directed triadic motifs which represent microscopic dependence among avatars. Based on structural similarity of motif positions, we further classify avatars into different groups. The node position diversity of avatars is found to be positively correlated with their economic production. We also find that the economic production of leaf nodes are significantly lower than that of the other nodes in the same motif. Our findings shed light on understanding the influence of network structure on economic activities and production in social system.

Abstract:The stochastic dynamical theory for the systems with power-law distributions has been discussed by means of using the Langevin equations with inhomogeneous friction and noise and the corresponding Fokker-Planck equations. The power-law distributions and the generalized fluctuation-dissipation relation under which these distributions can be generated in a complex system away from equilibrium have been found. And simultaneously, the Klein-Kramers equation and the Smoluchowski equation have been generalized to the dynamical systems with the solutions of power-law distributions. The numerical analyses have shown the power-law distributions all excellently fitting with the solutions of the dynamics of the Langevin equations.

Abstract:With the rational fraction form or the exponential form as a replacement of $delta$-function form as the density distribution of black holes, the mass-smeared regularized AdS black holes are investigated from their configurations and thermodynamics, including variation of the mass with respect to the horizon radius and the Hawking temperature, entropy, Gibbs free energy, and heat capacity at a constant pressure as well. It turns out that the mass-smeared black hole possesses anextremal configuration in which the temperature is zero. Based on the first law of thermodynamics, there is a modification to the area law which depends on the form of smearing. The Gibbs free energy corresponding to phase structure may behave differently at different vacuum pressures, specifically, the phase structure is more complex in a low pressure. We reveal similarities for the black holes of the two forms both in configurations and thermodynamics.

Abstract:A criterion that should be satisfied in the inflation andquintessence models has been motivated from the weak gravityconjecture (WGC) by Huang. However, it is found that the criterionis inconsistent with the holographic dark energy (HDE) and newagegraphic dark energy (NADE) models. In the note, we firstly showthat in the HDE and NADE models the criterion should be be replacedrespectively by two new criterions. Secondly, we apply the newcriterions indicated by WGC to survey the two models. We find thatthe contradiction between WGC and the NADE model is removed when thenew criterion is used. In the HDE model, we find the effects of thespatial curvature and the interaction should be considered in orderto match the new criterion.

Abstract:Boussinesq-Burgers (B-B) equations describe the long-wavepropagation in shallow water and are potentially applicable to theharbor and coastal designs. By virtue of the matrix extension in theWronskian technique, some exact solutions of the B-B equationsare obtained, such as the soliton, rational and periodic solutions.Solitonic interactions are discussed. Elastic-inelastic-interactioncoexistence is hereby observed, in addition to the previously-seenpure inelastic or elastic interactions.

Abstract:Arguments are provided which show that extension of renormalizability in quantum field theory is possible. By an appropriate choice of effective Lagrangian, a dressed Feynman propagator is obtained. In this scheme, higher order Feynman diagrams become self-convergent and nonrenormalizable interactions become renormalizable. As an example, the vacuum fluctuation effects on ho meson mass for the vector-tensor coupling model is discussed. It is found that the result can agree with the experimental value when coupling constant is adjusted.

Abstract:Using the new physical interpretation of quasinormal modes proposed by Maggiore, we calculate the area and entropy spectra for the 3-dimensional and 5-dimensional large Ads black hole. The spectra are obtained by imposing the Bohr-Sommerfeld quantization condition and the adiabatic invariant quantity. With this semiclassical method, we find that the spacings of the area and entropy spectra aare equidistant and independent of the Ads radius of the black hole for both the casess. However, the spacings of the spectra are not the same for different dimension of space-time. The equidistant area spectra will be broken when the black hole has other paprameters (i.e., charge and angular momentum) of in a non-Einstein's gravity theory.

Abstract:We investigate how the density operator of a squeezed chaotic field (a mixed state) evolves in the amplitude dissipative channel. We demonstrate that the evolved density operator ρ(t) is in a Gaussian quadratic form, and the Q-function of ρ(t) is derived, which manifestly exhibits the dissipation.

Abstract:We consider a Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) driven by a traveling lattice potential and derive an exact traveling-wave solution of the one-dimensional (1D) Gross-Pitaevskii equation (GPE), which satisfies a balance condition between the optical potential and interatomic interaction. The balance condition means the conservation of the total potential, and the exact solution contains some Bloch-like states and shows that the matter-wave has spatial profile in the form of sinusoid wave and propagates like a quasi-free particle with the lattice velocity.
