Abstract:A coupled field-circuit method by taking into account the saturation is proposed in this paper. The stator winding inter-turn short circuit and the rotor eccentricity hybrid fault of permanent magnet synchronous generators (PMSG) is analyzed. The harmonic currents were used in order to investigate this kind of fault in a 7.5 kVA PMSG suitable for low-power wind generation applications. Simulation results have shown that the sideband frequency currents at 25 Hz and 75 Hz, and the 17th and 19th order components of terminal currents can be used as fault detection criteria.

Abstract:With the accelerating expansion of wind power in China, a rational assessment method of wind farm access points plays an active role in guiding power system planning and operation. The traditional deterministic security analysis method is difficult to take the uncertainty of wind power into account, recently risk analysis method has aroused extensive concern of researchers. The alteration of power flow after outage is used to calculate the severity index of lines in contingency set, which is considered as the selection principle of cascading outage chain in this paper. And N-k cascading risk assessment method considering the uncertainty of wind speed is used to analysis the security of different planning schemes of wind farm access points. At the same time, the risks of energy storage devices integrated on the side of wind farm is also studied. With analyzing the risk level of power system, the methodology for determining reasonable and efficient energy storage configuration is also proposed. Finally, the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed method is validated by a modified IEEE-RTS system.

Abstract:Precise estimation of synchronized phasors in phasor measurement unit (PMU) is significant for system analysis, control and security. Measurement technique under dynamic conditions is addressed in recent researches. Limitations and criteria for dynamic behaviors are proposed in the new issued IEEE Std. C 37.118-2011 for synchrophasor measurements for power system. In this paper, dynamic characteristics of signals are described as non-stationary signals with amplitude and frequency modulations (AM-FM). A new method for estimating synchronized phasor based on AM-FM demodulation by Energy Operator is presented. In order to avoid the effect of noise, low-pass differentiator is employed. Performance of algorithm is evaluated by simulations and analysis of field data. The result illustrate that the algorithm proposed in this paper improves precision of phasor estimation and reduces response time of PMU, which meets the requirement of the current standard even during dynamic behaviors.

Abstract:This paper investigate the design optimization of a new modular linear flux-switching permanent magnet (MLFSPM) motor with complementary, symmetrical and modular structure and compare its performance with the conventional linear flux-switching permanent magnet (LFSPM). The key of the proposed structure is that each phase armature winding is composed of two coils whose positions are mutually one half of the stator pole pitch and there are flux barrier between the two adjacent "E" models. Hence, the back-EMF waveform of each phase is sinusoidal and the three phase magnet circuits are symmetrical. We first optimize the design and analyze the electromagnetic performance of the proposed MLFSPM motor by means of finite element method (FEM). Then, the structure of the conventional LFSPM motor is also optimized and then compared with the proposed motor based on the same method. The results reveal that the proposed motor has sinusoidal and symmetrical three-phase back-EMF waveforms, smaller cogging force, and smaller force ripple than the existing motors. Moreover, a prototype of the proposed motor is built to validate the study.

Abstract:This paper proposed a novel four-dimensional fractional order hyperchaotic system derived from Liu-System. EWB as well as Matlab simulations show the dynamical behavior of the proposed four-dimensional fractional order hyperchaotic system. Finally, after respectively using EWB and MATLAB, an electronic circuit is designed to realize the novel four-dimensional fractional order hyperchaotic system and get circuit experiment results which are identical to software simulations.

Abstract:To accelerate the adaptive protection's application, an adaptive protection system for distribution line of 35kV or under 35kV is designed in this paper. The system's overall structure is constructed and the distribution line's disturbance area model is erected. The adaptive setting algorithm, realizing strategy of adaptive protection function and a difference filter adding full-wave Morlet complex wavelet amplitude algorithm are presented. The transmission time delay model and performance evaluation indexes of fieldbus are offered. The DeviceNet communication performance of the system's substation level and the periodic communication's transmission time delay of the system's central control center level are analyzed. Results of analysis and simulation indicate that the adaptive protection system can set the protection settings in the central control center, substation control center and adaptive protection device on-line. And it can adapt to the changes of topology structure, operating mode, fault type and line's load of power system. The difference filter adding full-wave Morlet complex wavelet amplitude algorithm can filter the decaying DC component and has better frequency characteristic and stability. The DeviceNet fieldbus and industrial Ethernet communication in the system can satisfy the requirement of real time and reliability of substation automation.

Abstract:It's well known that a switched-mode power supply is easily to produce electromagnetic radiation emission and often fails in EMC test for its RFI exceeding limits between 30MHz-100MHz. The accurate radiation emission prediction technology is very helpful to a SMPS designer to find the potential problems at earlier stage and remove them in advance. This paper proposes a novel time domain simulation method, electromagnetic field-circuit collaborative strategy (FCS), to predict the far-field radiation emission of a Buck converter. The feasibility and deviation of this method are analyzed firstly. Then a buck converter is modeled and simulated to predict its EMI source and far-field radiation emissions. The effectiveness of this method is verified by comparing the prediction results and the experiment results.

Abstract:This paper investigates sliding mode controls of the acceleration for a voice coil driven shaker. The electromechanical system is modeled. The double loop and two single loop controls are proposed, simulated and compared. Stability and robustness of the closed-loop system are analyzed, providing a guide for controller parameter selection. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the controllers. Acceleration and root mean square (RMS) current are controlled with the desired accuracy. The inverter switching loss is reduced. The different control strategies have different maximum switching frequencies, finite-convergence time, and tracking accuracies. The transient responses for a step input are predictable for all the controllers.

Abstract:GOOSE (GOOSE: generic object oriented substation events) is a type of communication mode established in IEC 61850 standards to facilitate efficient and reliable communication in substation system. The protocol stack mapping method and retransmission mechanism enable the GOOSE based communication system to have good real-time performance and high reliability. This paper reports the design and implementation of a communication system, which transmits data from the source to the receiver with GOOSE protocol, for relay protection device. The design of communication system software process, the configuration approach of the message publisher, and the design and implementation of the thread refreshing and decoding in subscription equipment, are described in detail. At the end of the paper, a test system in which a GE Multiline general-purpose relay protection device is used as the message publisher, is built. The performance of the designed system is tested and analyzed on the test setup, and the test results show that the designed communication system satisfies the requirements of the protective device communication in reliability and real-time performance.

Abstract:In mine power networks, parallel supply is a common kind. The failure probability of these lines is high, protection false operation and failure operation often take place and the fault line is difficult to be selected. In this paper a novel method based on phase-to-phase current difference is proposed as line selection criterion. The simulation results using PSCAD and experiment results show that the method has a high accuracy and a great ability of anti-disturbance. It also applies to any distribution system with different grounding patterns.
