Abstract:In this paper, a one-third equilateral triangular resonator with two electric walls and two magnetic walls is proposed for the first time. The frequency of the main mode and the electric field distribution of the one-third equilateral triangular resonator are discussed and presented. The structure is realized by taking out one-third of an equilateral triangular resonator of substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) version and therefore, is called one-third-mode substrate integrated resonator (OTMSIR). Based on this resonator, OTMSIR filters composed of three OTMSIR cavities and six OTMSIR cavities are designed and simulated, respectively. Finally, the defected ground structure (DGS) is used to improve the performance of OTMSIR filters outside the passband. A 4.4-GHz bandpass filter with six OTMSIR cavities is fabricated and tested. The measured results agree well with the simulated ones.

Abstract:An in-line photonic crystal fiber based Mach-Zehnder interferometer (PCF-MZI) with the temperature compensation has been proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The in-line fiber-optic PCF-MZI is fabricated by splicing a section of the photonic crystal fiber between two single mode fibers. The wavelength peak in the transmission spectrum of the interferometer, which is induced by the temperature and strain, shifts to opposite directions respectively. Therefore, the in-fiber PCF-MZI is bonded to a packaging material with a proper coefficient of thermal expansion and the temperature compensation of the in-fiber PCF-MZI can be realized by using the strain which is induced by the thermal expansion of the packaging material. Experimental results show that the proposed PCF-MZI-based device possess the temperature insensitive feature, and a temperature stability of 1.0 pm/ C has been experimentally demonstrated with the packaging material of ceramic. The proposed temperature compensation method is simple, passive, cost effective, and easy to implement.

Abstract:To achieve high resolution patterns at the imaging plane of super-lens, we developed a far-field optical lithography system. Firstly, the transformation optics method was employed for designing the demagnification super-lens system. Secondly, we proposed a novel nanolithography model with super-lens-photoresist-graphene layer structure to enhance the evanescent wave of electric field intensity distribution delivered by the transversal magnetic polarization wave. We use finite element method to analyze performance of the super-lens combining with multilayer structure and graphene back reflector. Numerical simulations indicate the lithographic resolution can reach to 50 nm, demonstrating the ability of nanolithography by this method.

Abstract: Swiss rolls, consisting of a helically wound metal/dielectric laminate tape are utilized to achieve a novel ultrathin metamaterial absorber (MA) with a thickness of only about less than two percent of the incident wavelength. An intense magnetic resonance happens accompanied by strong absorption efficiency above 95% for both the TE and TM incident waves at the resonant frequency with the incidence angle up to 45 degree in the full-wave simulation. Samples have been fabricated to verify the performance of the MA for normal incidence using the TEM cell.

Abstract:In this contribution, the measurements of intra-body radio propagation channel are conducted at carrier frequencies 433 MHz, 900MHz and 2.4GHz with bandwidth of 2 MHz for different persons. The objective is to find unique propagation characteristics which can be used as fingerprints for personal authentication. The experiment results obtained demonstrate that the distribution of the fading coefficients of the intra-body channels, as well as the power frequency spectra exhibit distinguishable features which can be used to authenticate person's identity. The measurements also show that by using the reference fingerprints in terms of power frequency spectra, the correct identification probability can be maintained at the level above 75%. Furthermore, it is found that the validity of reference fingerprints is more sensitive to the clothes that a person wears than to the displacement of scatterers in the environments and minor changes of the person's posture.

Abstract:A differential voltage reference generator for pipelined analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) is presented in this paper. A modified Brokaw bandgap reference (BGR) is adopted to generate an adjustable sub-1V reference voltage. A new single-ended to differential converter based on current conversion is proposed to obtain the required differential voltage reference from the output of BGR directly. Fabricated in TSMC 0.18 um CMOS technology, the proposed circuit generates a 0.5-V differential reference voltage with a temperature coefficient of less than 46 ppm/ oC. The power consumption is 3.5 mW under a 1.8-V power supply. ?????

Abstract:Aging is becoming one of the most concerning problems for integrated circuits manufactured under ultra-deep sub-micrometer technology, which seriously influences the life span of a chip due to resulting in circuit failure. The existing techniques can only used to detect circuit faults after faults appear. In this paper, a novel on-line circuit aging detecting sensor is designed and inserted between the outputs of a combinational logic and flip-flops to predict circuit failure before errors occur. A stability checker is presented in the sensor, which can not only detect abnormal time delay of a circuit, but also store the detecting result without using any additional latches to retain the output signal when the checker is active, therefore predicting circuit failure. Simulation is executed for benchmarks circuits under 32nm CMOS technology. Experimental results show that compared with the aging detecting schemes recently proposed in the literature, using our technique, the detecting sensor has much less area overhead with lower power dissipation and time delay.

Abstract:To help explore the electrostatic properties of AlGaN-GaN two dimensional electron gas (2DEG), we present a simple and efficient method to determine the fermi level EF and solve 2DEG distribution and conduction band edge simultaneously, whose essence is to fix EF by two 2DEG sheet density vs. EF relations respectively deduced from Schrfdinger and Poisson equations. This method is applicable to the situation that depletion approximation holds and background doping charge can be omitted, and the polarization effects of nitrides can be combined.

Abstract:Gradual channel approximation of MOSFET is not available if lateral channel field effect is considered, and as the result, the profile of surface potential is also changed. In this paper, a high order analytical calculation of MOSFET surface potential, considering lateral channel field effect, is introduced. By maintaining the high order term of basic surface potential formulation, accuracy can be improved greatly while no obvious addition of calculation time.

Abstract:In this paper, a disc-shaped power tree is constructed for optimal DC performance. Given are the entire disc area and the structure of the tree. The conductivity path number N connecting with the center point source, the radial distance ratio, the area fraction and the number of pairing levels n are free to vary. The effect for parameters on resistance is investigated and the optimal parameters are obtained. The complexity of the tree increases because n increases and a more complex structure is beneficial for flow, but there exists a modest (not maximal) complexity. In the meantime, a disc power plane is designed based on the designed disc-shaped power tree. The disc power plane has multi-functions of equidistribution, low voltage drop, compactness and wideband noise isolation while maintaining a relatively simple design of geometry. Compared with leaf vein power plane, the disc power plane based on two pairing levels has smaller resistance and voltage drop than leaf vein power plane based on the same level assembled vein tree.
