	Abstract:Palladium-catalyzed nucleophilic dearomatization of chloromethyl naphthalene derivatives to produce ortho- or para-substituted carbocycles in satisfactory to excellent yields has been developed. The unprecedented dearomatization reactions proceeded smoothly under mild conditions via η3-benzyl palladium intermediates.

	2. Heterobimetallic dianionic guanidinate complexes of lanthanide and lithium: highly efficient precatalyst for addition of amines to carbodiimides

	Abstract:A series of heterobimetallic dianionic guanidinate complexes of lanthanide and lithium, [Li(THF)(DME)]3Ln[μ-η2η1(iPrN)2C(NC6H4p-R)]3 [R = Cl, Ln = Nd (I), Y (II), La (III); R = H, Ln = Nd (IV)] were synthesized and fully characterized. These complexes were found to be highly efficient precatalysts for the addition of various primary and secondary amines, and aromatic and aliphatic diamines to carbodiimides to the corresponding monoguanidine and biguanidine derivatives under mild condition (at 25-40 oC), which provides an efficient way for the synthesis of biguanidines compounds. The activity depends on the central metals and ligands: La > Nd > Y for metals and [(iPrN)2C(NC6H4p-Cl)]2- > [(iPrN)2C(NC6H5)]2- for ligands around lanthanide ion were observed.

	3. Anion influenced self-assembly of stilbazolium derivative and acid sensitive property of its corresponding gel

	Abstract:Two stilbazolium derivatives with different counter-anion (Br- and OH-) have been designed and synthesized. Different counter-anion causes different aggregation properties. The reason of the difference was investigate through concentration- and temperature-dependent 1H NMR and IR spectra. When the counter-anion is OH-, the stilbazolium derivative exhibit pronounced aggregation properties. The SEM images of xerogels show the characteristic gelation morphologies of 3D fibrous network structures. X-ray diffraction (XRD), and fluorescence spectroscopy studies have been carried out and provide more information to define the molecular packing model in gelation states. Finally, the acid sensing abilities of the xerogel film was study.

	4. A single component organic ferroelectric compound with helical hydrogen bond chains: crystal structure, ferroelectric and dielectric properties

	Abstract:An organic compound, 2-amino-4-phenylthiazole, crystallize in the polar space group P41; the neighboring molecules form a helical H-bonding chain along the crystallographic c-axis direction, and there are weak van der Waals forces between the adjacent H-bonding chains in the crystal. This compound shows ferroelectricity which is confirmed by the P-E hysteresis loop and dielectric spectroscopy. The theoretical analyses further revealed that the switch between two stable polarization states ?P and +P of the ferroelectricity under an external electric field can be easily achieved by the relative rotation of the thiazolyl and phenyl rings around C-C single bond of 2-amino-4-phenylthiazole.

	5. [70]fullerene-based carbon nanostructures for methanol oxidation

	Abstract:C70 clusters have been deposited as nanostructured films on optically transparent electrode (OTE) surfaces using an electrophoretic approach. Upon electrodeposition of platinum particles, these nanostructured C70 films show notable activity toward methanol oxidation. The dependence of methanol oxidation on the amount of Pt and C70 in a half-cell reaction demonstrates the role of [70]fullerene nanocluster as new form of carbon support. The C70 films have a better activity for methanol oxidation than C60 films have.

	Abstract:A flexible array of C60-polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) composite nanotubes and nanowires, having diameters in the range of 90-180 nm and length up to 30 microns, was fabricated by a controllable technique and characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), ultraviolet (UV) and infrared (IR) spectroscopy. The ability to prepare the fullerene composite nanowire and nanotube arrays with controlled structures represents an important step toward the development of chemical sensors, catalyst, optical devices and nanoscale electronic devices based on fullerenes.

	Abstract:Optically active tetrahydroquinoline derivatives have attracted considerable attention due to their important biological activities. For their construction, catalytic asymmetric inverse electron-demand aza-Diels-Alde reaction of N-arylimines with electron-rich alkenes (dienophiles) has been demonstrated to be one of the most powerful strategies. In this article, the progress of asymmetric catalytic inverse electron-demand aza-Diels-Alder is summarized according to the kind of the dienophiles. The future of the development of the reaction is also discussed.

	8. Mixed Gold-Silver Clusters Possessing N-Heterocyclic Carbenes: Synthesis, Structural Characterization, and Their Cytotoxicity

	Abstract:IGold and silver clusters, [Au2AgL2(CH3CN)2](PF6)3 (2, L = bis(N-pyridylimidazoliumyl)methane) and [Au4AgL4](PF6)5 (3), have been synthesized from [Ag3L2(CH3CN)2](PF6)3 (1) via transmetallation reactions, and their structures were determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. Complexes 1 and 2 are isostructural with each other consisting of triangular metallic rings showing weak metal-metal interaction. Complex 3 is a chain compound with the silver atom located in between two Au2 units. All the complexes are luminescent in their solid states at room temperature. The cytotoxicities of the complexes were investigated by MTT assay. The results show that all these complexes are toxic to HuH7, C6, and A375 tumor cells, and the toxicity order is 1 > 2 > 3 consistent with the silver content in these complexes.

	9. Recognition of Biological Anion in Aqueous Solution Using the Competition Displacement Method

	Abstract:The chiral compound 1 derived from bis(2-pyridinmethyl) amine was designed and synthesized, through binding with metal ions (Zn2+, Cu2+), the ternary complex 1-2Zn2+ and 1-2Cu2+ was formed. It was found that these two complexes could be used to detect anions in aqueous solution (10mM HEPES buffer). We used the pyrocatechol violet (PV) as the UV-vis indicator to monitor the binding process. The both two complex 1-2Zn2+(PV) and 1-2Cu2+ (PV) displayed the selective recognition ability to pyrophosphate anions over other anions such as phosphate, ATP, ADP, AMP, acetate and halogen anions. The binding result was confirmed by the circular dichlorism (CD) spectrum.

	Abstract:A novel substituent styryl pyridinium tetraphenylborate, 4-N,N- dimethylamino -4’-N’- 9-methanoanthracene-stilbazolium tetraphenylborate, has been synthesized and characterized by IR spectrum and X-ray single-crystal diffraction. The complex crystallizes in monoclinic space group P21/c with a = 1.2557 (1) nm, b = 1.539(1) nm, c = 2.2202 (8) nm, β =101.099(1) °, and V = 4.2105(4) nm3, Z = 4, Dc = 1.159 g•cm-3. In the title molecule, the pyridyl ring of the cation makes dihedral angle of 2.8° with the phenyl ring. The nonlinear optical properties of the compound were investigated by virtue of 1064 nm nanosecond laser beam, and the results show that the novel pyridinium salt has a TPA coefficient of β= 0.028 cm/GW, a TPA cross-section of σ= 8.68×10-48 cm4•s•photon-1.
